Fluorinated Graphene‐Coated N95 Respirators for Enhanced Protection against Viral Accumulation and Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a one‐step spray coating approach to coat the fluorinated graphene (FG) nanosheet onto the N95 respirators. The spray‐coated superhydrophobic N95 respirators can effectively repel respiratory droplets off instantaneously and prevent SARS‐CoV‐2 virus accumulation on the surface.

Cell Membrane Vesicle Camouflaged Artificial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Artificial cells camouflaged with a cell membrane vesicle coating are able to assemble into synthetic aggregates that exhibit rudimentary communication capabilities. Additionally, when these artificial cells are equipped with antioxidant capabilities, they are able to protect the intracellular homeostasis in HepG2 cells present in semi‐synthetic ...

Double Cross‐Linked Hydrogel for Intra‐articular Injection as Modality for Macrophages Metabolic Reprogramming and Therapy of Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel for intra‐articular injection for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is formulated and comprehensively studied. After administration, the hydrogel induces a metabolic reprogramming of immunometabolism of macrophages to trigger fatty acid oxidation subsequently inducing polarization of anti‐inflammatory M2 macrophages. This results in

Genomic context influences translesion synthesis DNA polymerase-dependent mechanisms of micronuclei induction by G-quadruplexes

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: Guanine quadruplexes (G4s) are non-canonical DNA structures that can trigger micronuclei (MNi). Mechanisms of micronuclei formation by G4s are not fully understood.

Transcriptional control of the H-NS antagonists LeuO and RcsB-BglJ in Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The bacterial nucleoid-associated protein (NAP) H-NS is involved in the organization and compaction of the bacterial chromatin and acts as a global respressor, mainly of genes that have been acquired by horizontal gene transfer and that are related to ...
