Genomic organization and chromosomal localization of the murine 2 P domain potassium channel gene Kcnk8: conservation of gene structure in 2 P domain potassium channels. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A 2 P domain potassium channel expressed in eye, lung, and stomach, Kcnk8, has recently been identified. To initiate further biochemical and genetic studies of this channel, we assembled the murine Kcnk8 cDNA sequence, characterized the genomic structure

Targeting Itga8 Mitigates Neurogenic Bladder Fibrosis Driven by Trem2⁺ Macrophage‐Derived Fn1 via FAK/RhoA/ROCK Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Normal bladders exhibit quiescent fibroblasts/macrophages, whereas neurogenic bladders show acute‐phase Itga8⁺ fibroblast expansion driven by Trem2⁺ macrophage‐secreted Fn1, which activates FAK/RhoA/ROCK signaling, promotes cytoskeletal remodeling, and upregulates pro‐fibrotic genes.

Residual entropy in a model for the unfolding of single polymer chains

open access: yes, 2007
We study the unfolding of a single polymer chain due to an external force. We use a simplified model which allows to perform all calculations in closed form without assuming a Boltzmann-Gibbs form for the equilibrium distribution.

Evolutionary clues to DNA polymerase III beta clamp structural mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The prokaryotic DNA polymerase III beta homodimeric clamp links the replication complex to DNA during polynucleotide synthesis. This clamp is loaded onto DNA and unloaded by the clamp loader complex, the delta subunit of which by itself can bind to and ...

Domestication of Tartary Buckwheat Shaped a Regulatory Module for Seedling Salt Tolerance by Targeting the Magnesium Transporter Gene FtMGT2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Domestication of Tartary buckwheat is selected for a salt tolerance mechanism involving the magnesium transporter FtMGT2. Its expression is controlled by the FtAGL16‐FtMYB15L module, which is stabilized under salt stress through a competitive interaction that blocks its degradation by the E3 ligase FtBRG1, ultimately boosting Na⁺ efflux and plant ...

Implementation and performance of SIBYLS: a dual endstation small-angle X-ray scattering and macromolecular crystallography beamline at the Advanced Light Source. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The SIBYLS beamline (12.3.1) of the Advanced Light Source at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, supported by the US Department of Energy and the National Institutes of Health, is optimized for both small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and ...

Tubule‐Derived IFN‐α Promotes GSDMD‐Mediated Macrophage Pyroptosis to Drive Renal Inflammation and Fibrosis Through JAK2/STAT2 Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mao and colleagues uncover a STAT2/IRF9‐dependent signaling axis through which tubular epithelial cell (TEC)‐derived IFN‐α induces gasdermin D (GSDMD)‐mediated pyroptosis in macrophages. This TEC‐macrophage feedback loop amplifies renal inflammation and fibrosis, providing mechanistic insight into the progression of chronic kidney disease and revealing

DNA i-Motifs With Guanidino-i-Clamp Residues: The Counterplay Between Kinetics and Thermodynamics and Implications for the Design of pH Sensors

open access: yesComputational and Structural Biotechnology Journal, 2019
I-motif structures, adopted by cytosine-rich DNA strands, have attracted considerable interest as possible regulatory elements in genomes. Applied science exploits the advantages of i-motif stabilization under acidic conditions: i-motif-based pH sensors ...
