Biosynthesis of mammalian DNA ligase.
A monospecific antibody against calf thymus DNA ligase composed of a single polypeptide with Mr = 130,000 cross-reacts with rodent and calf thymus DNA ligases. The antibody precipitates a single Mr = 200,000 polypeptide from detergent lysates of [3H] leucine-labeled mouse Ehrlich tumor cells and calf thymocytes. Pulse-chase experiments show that the Mr

The Regulation of Trace Metal Elements in Cancer Ferroptosis
The induction of ferroptosis inhibits tumor growth, enhances anticancer efficacy, and overcomes drug resistance. Recent evidence shows nonferrous metal elements play a role in ferroptosis. This review focuses on how trace metals regulate ferroptosis processes like iron accumulation, lipid peroxidation, and antioxidant defense.

"Cullin 4 makes its mark on chromatin"
Cullin 4 (Cul4), a member of the evolutionally conserved cullin protein family, serves as a scaffold to assemble multisubunit ubiquitin E3 ligase complexes.

Simulating 3-symbol Turing machines with SIMD||DNA [PDF]
SIMD||DNA is a model of DNA strand displacement allowing parallel in-memory computation on DNA storage. We show how to simulate an arbitrary 3-symbol space-bounded Turing machine with a SIMD||DNA program, giving a more direct and efficient route to general-purpose information manipulation on DNA storage than the Rule 110 simulation of [Wang, Chalk ...

Single-stranded DNA ligation and XLF-stimulated incompatible DNA end ligation by the XRCC4-DNA ligase IV complex: influence of terminal DNA sequence [PDF]
The double-strand DNA break repair pathway, non-homologous DNA end joining (NHEJ), is distinctive for the flexibility of its nuclease, polymerase and ligase activities.

The ubiquitin E3/E4 ligase, UBE4A, fine-tunes protein ubiquitylation and accumulation at sites of DNA damage facilitating double-strand break repair [PDF]
Double-strand breaks (DSBs) are critical DNA lesions that robustly activate the elaborate DNA damage response (DDR) network. We identified a critical player in DDR fine-tuning - the E3/E4 ubiquitin ligase, UBE4A.

DNA Ligase C and Prim-PolC participate in base excision repair in mycobacteria
Ligase D is a conserved DNA repair protein complex that repairs double-strand breaks in stationary phase prokaryotes. Here the authors show that orthologous Ligase C has a role in base excision repair during stationary phase.

DCAF26, an adaptor protein of Cul4-based E3, is essential for DNA methylation in Neurospora crassa. [PDF]
DNA methylation is involved in gene silencing and genome stability in organisms from fungi to mammals. Genetic studies in Neurospora crassa previously showed that the CUL4-DDB1 E3 ubiquitin ligase regulates DNA methylation via histone H3K9 trimethylation.
