High information capacity DNA-based data storage with augmented encoding characters using degenerate bases

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
DNA-based data storage has emerged as a promising method to satisfy the exponentially increasing demand for information storage. However, practical implementation of DNA-based data storage remains a challenge because of the high cost of data writing ...

The Capacity of Some P\'olya String Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We study random string-duplication systems, which we call P\'olya string models. These are motivated by DNA storage in living organisms, and certain random mutation processes that affect their genome.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Primer‐Disk‐Enabled DNA Data Storage System with Index and Record‐Many‐Read‐Many Features

open access: yesAdvanced Science
DNA data storage has emerged as a promising information storage technology by encoding information down to base molecules. However, it remains a challenge to structure the DNA data with ease of recording, retrieving, and reading.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Characterisation of adhesion of a probiotic bacterium Lactobacillus rhamnosus HN001 to extracellular matrix proteins and the intestinal cell line Caco-2 : a thesis presented to Massey University in partial fulfilment of the requirement for the degree of Master of Science in Microbiology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This study focuses on Lactobacillus rhamnosus HN001, a potential candidate for use as a probiotic. Probiotics are microorganisms that can exert a beneficial effect on a host.
