The evolving role of immunotherapy in ovarian cancer
Abstract Ovarian cancer remains a major cause of gynecologic cancer mortality; and, although immune checkpoint inhibitors have transformed treatment in other solid tumors, their activity in ovarian cancer has been limited by tumor heterogeneity, an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, and the lack of robust predictive biomarkers.

Phylogenetic and biochemical analyses of the heme transporter CydDC reveal its functional conservation throughout bacterial evolution and demonstrate its unique asymmetric allosteric mechanism. Furthermore, impairment of CydDC function directly affects bacterial antibiotic resistance and likely compromises antibiotic efficacy through drug efflux.
