From Genomic Fossils to Functional Elements: The Evolving Story of Pseudogenes

open access: yesAdvanced Genetics, EarlyView.
This review begins with an introduction, summarizing the research background in pseudogene studies. It then contains three aspects: identification of pseudogenes, detailing their classification and features in metazoan genomes; functional pseudogenes, introducing their reactivation and regulation mechanisms; and pseudogenes’ contribution to species ...

The interplay between tissue‐resident microbiome and host proteins by integrated multi‐omics during progression of colorectal adenoma to carcinoma

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
This study integrated metagenomic and proteomic profiling of 185 colorectal tissue samples—spanning adenoma (A), tumor (T), and para‐tumor (P)—to characterize multi‐kingdom microbiome and host protein dynamics in colorectal cancer (CRC). In total, 4057 bacterial, 61 fungal, 108 archaeal, and 374 viral species were identified, revealing CRC‐specific ...

Genome‐wide CRISPR screen reveals an uncharacterized spliceosome regulator as new candidate immunotherapy target

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
This study identifies the uncharacterized gene C9ORF50 as a novel regulator of immune evasion. Functioning as an intrinsically disordered protein, C9ORF50 drives liquid‐liquid phase separation to facilitate spliceosome assembly and maintain RNA splicing fidelity.

Hurricane Impacts on the Population Genetics of an Endangered Ecosystem Engineer 飓风对一种濒危生态系统工程师的种群遗传学影响

open access: yesIntegrative Conservation, EarlyView.
Key Largo woodrats are a small and endangered island species, whose individuals tend to occur in family groups. Isolation from mainland populations, predation, and habitat fragmentation have caused genetic drift, leading to low overall diversity. Here, we found that a major category 4 hurricane promoted genetic diversity in the Key Largo woodrat ...

Chronic Low‐Dose Unsymmetrical Dimethylhydrazine Exposure in Rats: Multiorgan Mechanisms and Biomarker Identification

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine (UDMH), a highly toxic rocket propellant with known multiorgan effects, requires urgent characterization of its chronic low‐dose toxicity. Using an integrated approach including exploratory transcriptomics (n = 3/group) and metabolomic (n = 4/group) approaches in male Sprague–Dawley rats exposed to high‐dose ...
