PD‐L1 Expression is Mediated by microRNA Processing, Wnt/β‐Catenin Signaling, and Chemotherapy in Wilms Tumor

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Inhibition of immune checkpoint proteins is effective in adult cancers but has shown limited efficacy in pediatric cancers. While factors regulating expression of immune checkpoint proteins such as PD‐L1 are well documented in adult cancers, their regulation is poorly understood in pediatric cancers.

Arbuscular mycorrhiza in the urban jungle: Glomeromycotina communities of the dominant city tree across Amsterdam

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Trees in cities provide a great number of benefits to people and nature, but they are challenged by harsh conditions. Trees rely on helpful fungi in their roots to get essential nutrients from the soil, but we do not know which of these fungi are resistant to city landscapes.

FHY3/FAR1 transposable elements generate adaptive genetic variation in the Bassia scoparia genome

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
FHY3/FAR1 are active transposable elements and are involved with the formation of genomic structural variants that cause glyphosate resistance in Bassia scoparia. Abstract BACKGROUND A nearly complete genome assembly consisting of 14 scaffolds, a total length of 969.6 Mb, and an N50 scaffold length of 99.88 Mb, was generated to better understand how ...

Biocontrol potential of naturally occurring entomopathogens against Maladera formosae in corn–soybean rotated systems

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
We isolated three insect‐killing nematodes from Maladera formosae infested corn–soybean rotated fields, Heterorhabditis bacteriophora, Pristionchus sp., and Steinernema carpocapsae. Results from greenhouse and field microcosm studies indicate all three nematodes can infect and kill M. formosae grubs and persist through winter.

Decreased DMI sensitivity of Plenodomus biglobosus (phoma of oilseed rape) associated with CYP51 substitution G476S

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Here, we report for the first time a target site mutation in the CYP51 gene of the oilseed rape phoma stem canker fungus Plenodomus biglobosus (Leptosphaeria biglobosa) that is associated with decreased sensitivity to sterol demethylation inhibitor fungicides.

Mechanistic Learning for Predicting Survival Outcomes in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, Volume 14, Issue 3, Page 540-550, March 2025.
ABSTRACT We employed a mechanistic learning approach, integrating on‐treatment tumor kinetics (TK) modeling with various machine learning (ML) models to address the challenge of predicting post‐progression survival (PPS)—the duration from the time of documented disease progression to death—and overall survival (OS) in Head and Neck Squamous Cell ...
