Dynamic relationships between bilirubin concentrations and the gut microbiota in the neonatal period: A pilot prospective cohort study

In the prospective cohort of term neonates, daily bilirubin monitoring combined with serial fecal 16S rRNA sequencing showed that early gut microbiota trajectories are linked to bilirubin dynamics, with distinct bacterial genera associated with higher versus lower peak bilirubin.
