Comparison of Receptor‐Mediated Endocytosis and Its Application to Enhance DNA Transfection by TFAMoplex

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
We developed an assay to distinguish cellular binding from internalization. Compatible with microscopy and high‐throughput screening, the method identifies ligand‐mediated uptake. Applying top candidates to a protein‐based DNA carrier enhanced transfection efficiency, providing a rational strategy to improve non‐viral gene delivery systems.

Optimization of chimaeric HIV-1 virus-like particle (VLP) production and immunogenicity testing of VLPs in mice

open access: yes, 2008
Includes abstract.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 139-148).The devastating effect the HIV pandemic has had on the human population in the last twenty five years has highlighted the great need to develop a prophylactic HIV vaccine.

Using pCIN-mIL-4 DNA vector to express mRNA and protein and to improve herpes simplex virus-induced Behcet's disease symptoms in mice

open access: yes, 2007
Behcet's disease (BD) is a chronic, recurrent, inflammatory, multisystemic disorder characterized primarily by vasculitis. The etiopathogenesis of BD involves immunogenetics, infectious organisms (streptococcus, herpes simplex virus), immunoregulation ...

DNA Vaccine Encoding Heat Shock Protein 60 Co-Linked to Hpv 16 E6 and E7 Tumor Antigens Generates More Potent Immunotherapeutic Effects Than Respective E6 or E7 Tumor Antigens

open access: yes, 2008
Objective. Vaccination based on tumor antigen is an attractive strategy for cancer prevention and therapy. Cervical cancer is highly associated with human papillomavirus, especially type 16. We developed DNA vaccines encoding heat shock protein 60 (HSP60)

An IL-15 adjuvant enhances the efficacy of a combined DNA vaccine against Brucella by increasing the CD8(+) cytotoxic T cell response

open access: yes, 2010
We investigated whether a combined DNA vaccine delivered together with the IL-15 gene (DNA-IL-15(+)) enhanced the immune response against Brucella abortus in mice.

Health disparities in chronic liver disease

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract The syndemic of hazardous alcohol consumption, opioid use, and obesity has led to important changes in liver disease epidemiology that have exacerbated health disparities. Health disparities occur when plausibly avoidable health differences are experienced by socially disadvantaged populations.

Construction of pIRES2 vector encoding truncated NS3 of HCV and IL-18 for DNA vaccine studies

open access: yesVaccine Research, 2015
Introduction: Long term complications of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection include fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma and although the disease is treatable with the newly introduced direct acting antivirals, but factors such as drug ...

Comparative analysis of effects of cytokine gene adjuvants on DNA vaccination against Mycobacterium tuberculosis heat shock protein 65

open access: yes, 2003
DNA-based vaccines generate potent cellular immunity as well as humoral immunity. It seems evident that cytokines play a crucial role in generation of effector T cell subsets and in determining the magnitude of the response by DNA vaccines. In this study,

The Role of miRNAs in Chicken Immune Regulation and Prospects for Disease‐Resistant Breeding

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
A schematic workflow illustrating the screening of disease‐resistant miRNAs and the generation of miRNA‐based disease‐resistant chickens via PGC‐mediated germline genome editing. ABSTRACT MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are emerging as pivotal regulators of the immune system, playing a decisive role in shaping disease resistance in chicken.
