Biochemical characterization of novel retroviral integrase proteins. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Integrase is an essential retroviral enzyme, catalyzing the stable integration of reverse transcribed DNA into cellular DNA. Several aspects of the integration mechanism, including the length of host DNA sequence duplication flanking the integrated ...

DNA-PK Is Targeted by Multiple Vaccinia Virus Proteins to Inhibit DNA Sensing

open access: yesCell Reports, 2018
Summary: Virus infection is sensed by pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) detecting virus nucleic acids and initiating an innate immune response. DNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PK) is a PRR that binds cytosolic DNA and is antagonized by vaccinia ...

Analysis of Replicative Intermediates of Adeno-associated Virus through Hirt Extraction and Southern Blotting

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2017
Adeno-associated virus (AAV) is a small single-stranded DNA virus that requires the presence of a helper virus, such as adenovirus or herpes virus, to efficiently replicate its genome.

Induction of Oxidative DNA Damage in Bovine Herpesvirus 1 Infected Bovine Kidney Cells (MDBK Cells) and Human Tumor Cells (A549 Cells and U2OS Cells)

open access: yesViruses, 2018
Bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) is an important pathogen of cattle that causes lesions in mucosal surfaces, genital tracts and nervous systems. As a novel oncolytic virus, BoHV-1 infects and kills numerous human tumor cells.

Infectious Rous Sarcoma Virus and Reticuloendotheliosis Virus DNAs [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1974
An efficient and quantitative assay for infectious Rous sarcoma virus and reticuloendotheliosis virus DNAs is described. The specific infectivities of viral DNA corresponded to one infectious unit per 10 5 to 10 6 viral DNA molecules. Infection with viral DNA followed one-hit kinetics.

REPercussions: how geminiviruses recruit host factors for replication

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2023
Circular single-stranded DNA viruses of the family Geminiviridae encode replication-associated protein (Rep), which is a multifunctional protein involved in virus DNA replication, transcription of virus genes, and suppression of host defense responses ...

Host Range Limitation of a Pseudorecombinant Virus Produced by Two Distinct Bipartite Geminiviruses

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1997
The production of pseudorecombinant viruses following exchange of cloned genomic components of the distinct geminiviruses Sida golden mosaic virus (SiGMV-Co) and Abutilon mosaic virus (AbMV) has been investigated.
