DNA Topology and the Initiation of Virus DNA Packaging
During progeny assembly, viruses selectively package virion genomes from a nucleic acid pool that includes host nucleic acids. For large dsDNA viruses, including tailed bacteriophages and herpesviruses, immature viral DNA is recognized and translocated into a preformed icosahedral shell, the prohead.

Varicella-zoster virus vaccine DNA differs from the parental virus DNA [PDF]
The DNAs of a varicella-zoster virus vaccine and its parental virus were compared by CsCl buoyant density centrifugation and restriction enzyme cleavage analysis. The varicella-zoster virus vaccine DNA showed a heterogeneous buoyant profile and altered restriction enzyme cleavage patterns.

Biochemical characterization of novel retroviral integrase proteins. [PDF]
Integrase is an essential retroviral enzyme, catalyzing the stable integration of reverse transcribed DNA into cellular DNA. Several aspects of the integration mechanism, including the length of host DNA sequence duplication flanking the integrated ...

Infectious Rous Sarcoma Virus and Reticuloendotheliosis Virus DNAs [PDF]
An efficient and quantitative assay for infectious Rous sarcoma virus and reticuloendotheliosis virus DNAs is described. The specific infectivities of viral DNA corresponded to one infectious unit per 10 5 to 10 6 viral DNA molecules. Infection with viral DNA followed one-hit kinetics.

The rat virus of Kilham (Kilham & Olivier, 1959) is a virus containing DNA which multiplies in rat embryo tissue culture and belongs to a group of hamster osteolytic viruses (H1 and H3 viruses) (Moore, 1962). This paper confirms and extends previous work showing that rat virus contains single-stranded DNA (Robinson & Hetrick, 1969).

The Supercoiling of Papilloma Virus DNA
DNA from viruses of the papilloma group is circular and supercoiled with a molecular weight of 5.3 million daltons (1). At present little is known of the mechanism by which supercoiling arises or of the biological functions which may be performed by this configuration.
