RNA recognition by PKR during DNA virus infection
Journal of Medical VirologyAbstractProtein kinase R (PKR) is a double‐stranded RNA (dsRNA) binding protein that plays a crucial role in innate immunity during viral infection and can restrict both DNA and RNA viruses. The potency of its antiviral function is further reflected by the large number of viral‐encoded PKR antagonists.

DNA polymerases in polyoma virus-infected mouse kidney cells
Journal of Virology, 1975Infection of arrested mouse kidney cells by polyoma virus results in the induction of the cellular 6-8S DNA polymerase activity. Levels of this enzyme increase two- to threefold in the cytoplasm but seven- to tenfold in nuclei and nuclear extract, suggesting an accumulation of the enzyme in the nucleus. Experiments using the inhibitor of DNA synthesis,

Free cauliflower mosaic virus supercoiled DNA in infected plants
Virology, 1982Evidence is presented indicating that free viral DNA exists in Cauliflower mosaic virus-infected leaves. Among the different viral DNA forms detected in total DNA extracts is a supercoiled form. We discuss its possible role in the replication process.

DNA-Replication Complex from Cells Infected with Herpes Virus
European Journal of Biochemistry, 2005Herpes simplex virus (HSV) DNA synthesis is initiated in an intact cell system by a 36-residue ribonucleotide stretch [W.E.G. Müller, R.K. Zahn, J. Arendes, and D. Falke (1979) Virology, 98, 200-210]. In the present study a nucleoplasmic fraction was isolated from rabbit kidney cells infected with HSV (type 1), which catalyzes DNA synthesis.

Serum epstein–barr virus DNA load in primary epstein–barr virus infection
Journal of Medical Virology, 2004AbstractSpecific viral laboratory diagnosis of primary Epstein–Barr Virus (EBV) infection is usually based on antibody‐detection assays. During acute, lytic phase of infection, viral DNA can also be detected in serum. In the present study, the diagnostic utility of EBV DNA detection and quantitation in serum in primary EBV infection was investigated ...

Context matters: DNA virus infection reshapes DNA damage response pathways
Cell SystemsThe cellular DNA damage response pathway can have vastly different outcomes depending on the source of its activation. Justice and colleagues apply phosphoproteomics to uncover a divergence in DNA-PK and ATM kinase activities in the contexts of DNA damage and DNA virus infection.

Negatively supercoiled DNA from plants infected with a single-stranded DNA virus
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1984A method for isolating covalently closed circular double-stranded DNA from plants infected with the geminivirus, tomato golden mosaic virus, is described. Ethidium bromide titration showed this DNA to be negatively supercoiled with a superhelical density of -0.062.

Experimental infection of nonenveloped DNA virus (TTV) inRhesus monkey
Journal of Medical Virology, 2000Virus fragments homologous to TTV were detected previously from an enterically transmitted outbreak of non-A-E hepatitis [Luo et al., 1999]. To test the susceptibility of the Rhesus monkey to this virus and to establish its transmission routes, 6 Rhesus monkeys were inoculated, 3 orally and another 3 intravenously.

DNA-binding Proteins in Frog Virus 3-infected Cells
Journal of General Virology, 1981At least 12 virus-induced DNA-binding proteins with mol. wt. ranging from 14 X 10(3) have been isolated from frog virus (FV 3)-infected fathead minnow cells by DNA affinity chromatography. Two enzymic activities, DNA-dependent DNA polymerase and endodeoxyribonuclease, were present in the DNA-binding proteins; these enzymic activities were similar to ...

Leucocyte hepatitis B virus DNA in acute and chronic hepatitis B virus infection
Journal of Medical Virology, 1987AbstractIn the present study we have investigated 53 patients with a spectrum of acute and chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection for the presence of leucocyte HBV‐DNA with the aid of molecular techniques. HBV‐DNA was detected in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of 31 of 45 (69%) of chronic HBsAg carriers and 2 of 8 (25%) patients with acute ...
