Necessity of Sinus Lift Surgery in Treatment of Posterior Maxilla with Dental Implants

open access: yesČeská Stomatologie a Praktické Zubní Lékařství, 2006
Necessity of the sinus lift procedure in individual locations on the lateral aspect of the maxilla was investigated. The vertical extent of the bone in a position of missed canine, both premolars and first and second molars was measured.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Methods of Tooth Pulp Sampling for Isolation and Cultivation of Stem Cells

open access: yesČeská Stomatologie a Praktické Zubní Lékařství, 2006
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are capable of spontaneous generation of a whole spectrum of cells of mesenchymal origin. Moreover, they can converse even into elements of different embryonic stems.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Dynamics of dissolved organic carbon from aerobic and anaerobic decomposition of Typha domingensis Pers. and Eleocharis interstincta (Vahl) Roem. & Schult. in a tropical coastal lagoon

open access: yesActa Limnologica Brasiliensia
AIM: The aim of this study was to evaluate the initial stage of decomposition of two aquatic macrophytes (Typha domingensis and Eleocharis interstincta) under aerobic and anaerobic conditions; METHODS: The samples of aquatic macrophytes and water were ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Free Radicals and Antioxidants in Stomatology

open access: yesČeská Stomatologie a Praktické Zubní Lékařství, 2008
Aggressive free radicals and ROS substances participate in many stamotological diseases. In the mouth these are formed or transported due to inflammation from white blood cells, in reperfusion after ischemia, cell necrosis, after bleeding in the presence
