A 6W uneven doherty power amplifier in GaN technology

open access: yes2007 European Microwave Conference, 2007
In this paper the design of a 6 W uneven GaN Doherty power amplifier is presented. The Doherty PA is designed to achieve high efficiency for modulated signals with high peak to average power ratio used in modern wireless communication systems. The Doherty amplifier has been designed using two equal sized GaN devices for the Main Class AB and Peaking ...

Compact harmonic control network for Doherty power amplifier

open access: yesMicrowave and Optical Technology Letters, 2008
AbstractIn this contribution, an innovative design solution to realize small size Doherty power amplifier is presented. The idea consists in the realization of a unique output matching network for both carrier and peaking devices without losing the Doherty behavior.

A Saturated Doherty Power Amplifier Based On Saturated Amplifier

open access: yesIEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, 2010
A saturated Doherty power amplifier (PA) based on the saturated PA tuned by the self-generated harmonic currents is presented. When driven with mobile WiMAX 1FA signal, this Doherty PA demonstrates high efficiency performance (average 57%) over the WiMAX band from 2.5 GHz to 2.7 GHz.

The Doherty Power Amplifier: Design strategy

open access: yes2015 IEEE Thirty Fifth Central American and Panama Convention (CONCAPAN XXXV), 2015
This paper shows a proposal of methodology for designing Doherty Power Amplifiers (DPAs) with arbitrary output-back-off (OBO), main and peak devices. As a demonstration, a 7.5dB OBO DPA has been designed, using two devices from Cree Inc, and simulated in Advanced Design System 2014.

Voltage Mode Doherty Power Amplifier

IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, 2017
This paper presents a new wideband Doherty amplifier technique that can achieve high efficiency while maintaining excellent linearity. By modifying a “forgotten” topology originally proposed by Doherty, a new Doherty amplifier architecture is realized with two voltage mode power amplifiers (PAs) and transformers, thus eliminating a narrowband impedance

Broadband Doherty power amplifiers

2013 IEEE Topical Conference on Power Amplifiers for Wireless and Radio Applications, 2013
In this paper, the transformer-less load-modulated (TLLM) architecture for designing broadband Doherty amplifiers is presented. In this architecture, the quarter-wave impedance transformers of the Doherty amplifier are not used. As a result, the design will be much more compact and large operational bandwidths can be obtained.

The Doherty power amplifier

2015 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium, 2015
The Doherty power amplifier (DPA) architecture, in various formats using different technologies, has been a very popular means of providing high conversion efficiencies from raw electrical power to sophisticated modulated RF and microwave signals ever since the requirements for very high power amplitude modulated (AM) radio transmitters in the mid-1930'

A Wideband High-efficiency Doherty Power Amplifier for LTE

2023 33rd International Conference Radioelektronika (RADIOELEKTRONIKA), 2023
This article describes a broadband Doherty power amplifier designed with a class AB and class C PA that is suitable for LTE Band-7 and Wi-Fi applications. The output matching network is theoretically analyzed, with emphasis on the effect of the auxiliary amplifier's non-ideal infinite output impedance on parasitic devices.
