The educational gradient in cardiovascular risk factors: impact of shared family factors in 228,346 Norwegian siblings

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2017
Background Various indicators of childhood socioeconomic position have been related to cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in adulthood. We investigated the impact of shared family factors on the educational gradient in midlife CVD risk factors by ...

t-Local Domains and Valuation Domains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In a valuation domain $(V,M)$ every nonzero finitely generated ideal $J$ is principal and so, in particular, $J=J^t$, hence the maximal ideal $M$ is a $t$-ideal. Therefore, the $t$-local domains (i.e., the local domains, with maximal ideal being a $t$-ideal) are "cousins" of valuation domains, but, as we will see in detail, not so close.

Responses to neither exogenous nor endogenous endothelin-1 are altered in patients with hypercholesterolemia

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2005
There is some controversy regarding whether vascular responses to endothelin are altered in hypercholesterolemia. Studies performed to date have been compromised by the use of endothelin antagonists at inappropriate concentrations.

Ferroelectricity and magnetism in Pb(Fe0.5Nb0.5)O3–Pb(Yb0.5Nb0.5)O3–PbTiO3 single crystals [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Dielectrics, 2014
Domain structure, ferroelectric and magnetic properties of [001]-oriented multiferroic single crystals Pb(Fe0.5Nb0.5)O3–Pb(Yb0.5Nb0.5)O3–PbTiO3 (PFN–PYN–PT) with various compositions were investigated with the purpose of understanding the ferroelectric ...

Historical Reasoning: The Interplay of Domain-Specific and Domain-General Aspects

open access: yes, 2018
In this chapter, we explore the question of domain-general and domain-specific aspects of reasoning in history. Historical reasoning is a form of informal reasoning. There are no single procedures to reach a conclusion and there is no single clear-cut or

Domain-sensitivity

open access: yesSynthese, 2010
In this paper, I argue that there are good motivations for a relativist account of the domain-sensitivity of quantifier phrases. I will frame the problem as a puzzle involving what looks like a logically valid inference, yet one whose premises are true while the conclusion is false. After discussing some existing accounts, literalist and contextualist,

Evolutionary conservation of domain-domain interactions [PDF]

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2006
Abstract Background Recently, there has been much interest in relating domain-domain interactions (DDIs) to protein-protein interactions (PPIs) and vice versa , in an attempt to understand the molecular basis of PPIs.
