Numerical studies on low-strain integrity testing of cast-in-place pile

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment
A series of in situ tests were conducted using the low-strain integrity testing method to detect the defects of cast-in-place concrete piles. Numerical studies were conducted to observe the time-domain waveform along cast-in-place concrete piles with ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

A CORDIC ARGUMENT REDUCTION METHOD WITH REGULAR ARCHITECTURE AND UNLIMITED CONVERGENCE Abstract DOMAIN

open access: yes, 2008
One of the main problems of the CORDIC algorithm is the limited convergence domain, in which the functions can be calculated. Two different approaches can be employed to overcome this constraint: first, an argument reduction method and, second, an ...

Analytical frequency-domain solution for Euler-Bernoulli frames with semi-rigid connections

open access: yesForces in Mechanics
This paper presents a novel method for analyzing the dynamic response of plane Euler-Bernoulli frames with semi-rigid connections subjected to arbitrary external loads and bending moments.

An Adaptive Domain Partitioning Technique for Meshfree-Type Methods

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
An overlapping domain partitioning based on adapting nodes is presented for the meshless-type methods. The decomposition of the domain is carried out based on the distribution of the nodes produced rather than the geometry of the problem.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Numerical modelling of photonic crystal based switching devices

open access: yes, 2012
In the last few years research has identified Photonic Crystals (PhCs) as promising material that exhibits strong capability of controlling light propagation in a manner not previously possible with conventional optical devices.
