Ferroelectricity in glycine: A mini-review

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2022
Glycine is the simplest natural amino acid, a basic building block for various biomaterials. Supramolecular packing of glycine molecules into three main crystalline polymorphs allows controlling their functional properties, such as piezoelectricity and ...

Tunable LiNbO3-based diffractive optical element for the control of transverse modes of a laser beam

open access: yesКомпьютерная оптика, 2021
A diffractive optical element based on a nonlinear-optical ferroelectric single crystal has been proposed, synthesized, and experimentally characterized. The element allows fast modulation of transverse modes of a Gaussian laser beam.

Creation of a Periodic Domain Structure in MgOLN by Femtosecond Laser Irradiation

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
The systematic imaging of the damaged tracks and domain patterns created in the MgOLN plates by one-step fs-laser irradiation at different depths was carried out. It is shown that the domains in the bulk have a spindle-like shape and start to grow in the

Domain structural class prediction [PDF]

open access: yesProtein Engineering Design and Selection, 1998
The structural class of a protein domain can be approximately predicted according to its amino acid composition. However, can the prediction quality be improved by taking into account the coupling effect among different amino acid components? This question has evoked much controversy because completely different conclusions have been obtained by ...

Domain structure of flagellin [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1984
The chemotaxis of bacteria such as Salmonella and Escherichia coli involves smooth swimming punctuated by periods of tumbling. In smooth swimming the flagellar filaments are left‐handed, in tumbling they are right‐handed with a different wavelength. The filaments are constructed from a globular protein, flagellin, by a process of self‐assembly.

Enhanced piezoelectric properties of (Ba0.3Bi0.7)(Mg0.05Fe0.6Ti0.35)O3 piezoelectric ceramics with high Curie temperature [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Dielectrics, 2014
(Ba0.3Bi0.7)(Mg0.05Fe0.6Ti0.35)O3 ceramics were either doped with vanadium or sintered in calcined powder with the same composition. Compared to an undoped ceramic sintered without the calcined powder, both ceramics showed reduced leakage current ...
