Blood indices of sheep fed with ensiled signal grass (Brachiaria decumbens)

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, Volume 68, Issue 7, Page 1985-2002, December 2025.
ABSTRACT The Brachiaria species, particularly B. decumbens, is a key ruminant feed in the tropics but contains steroidal saponins that may cause toxicity, raising concerns for small ruminant farmers. Eighteen 6‐month‐old sheep were randomly assigned to three treatments over a 90‐day feeding trial: Negative control (fresh P.

Genomic Insights Into the Body Size Evolution in Mustelidae (Mammalia: Carnivora)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2025.
The comparative genomic analysis of 19 mustelid species provides insights into the genetic basis of body size evolution, identifying candidate genes and pathways under selection that underlie the remarkable morphological diversity in Mustelidae. ABSTRACT The extraordinary body size diversity within Mustelidae makes this carnivoran family an exceptional

Effects of Feeding Different Diets on Carcass Performance and Mutton Quality of Horro Sheep

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2025.
Different feeding options affect Horro sheep meat quality. Horro sheep with a high‐quality diet can produce high‐quality meat. Dolichos lablab can be used as an alternative protein source for Horro sheep fattening. ABSTRACT The study evaluated the carcass performances and meat quality of yearling Horro rams with an initial body weight of 25.35 ± 2.34 ...

Effect of Astragalus mollissimus on Ruminal Fermentation, Methane Production and Performance of Sheep

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 3, May 2025.
The effects of A. mollissimus (AM) supplementation on methane (CH4) production, volatile fatty acids, animal performance and nitro compound presence in blood were evaluated through two experiments. Results showed an CH4 reduction by up to 60%. No adverse effects on animal performance and no detectable nitro compound in plasma were reported.
