Remote Magnetomechanical Neuromodulation Uncovers Therapeutic Mechanisms for Alleviating Parkinsonian Symptoms in Freely Moving Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetomechanical neuromodulation using magnetic nanodiscs enables remote activation of neurons. In a hemiparkinsonian mouse model, alternating magnetic fields actuate the nanodiscs to generate torque that opens mechanosensitive ion channels within the subthalamic nucleus, thereby modulating basal ganglia motor circuitry.

ATF2, but not ATF3, participates in the maintenance of nerve injury-induced tactile allodynia and thermal hyperalgesia

open access: yesMolecular Pain, 2018
Transcription factors are proteins that modulate the transcriptional rate of target genes in the nucleus in response to extracellular or cytoplasmic signals.

qPCR of dorsal root ganglia from vaccinated animals.

open access: yes, 2014
qPCR results from sacral dorsal root ganglia excised from vaccinated mice challenged with either HSV-1 (McKrae) or HSV-2 (G). Positive controls were sacral dorsal root ganglia excised from unvaccinated mice challenged with either HSV-1 (McKrae) or HSV-2 (

Ultrasound‐Activated Piezoelectric Neuroimmune Hydrogel Orchestrates Neurogenesis‐Macrophage Crosstalk in Diabetic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this work, we design an ultrasound‐activated piezoelectric hydrogel platform (AOEF@AP5+US) that reprograms neurogenesis‐macrophage crosstalk as an integrated strategy to overcome the intertwined barriers of chronic inflammation, peripheral neuropathy, and impaired regeneration in diabetic wounds.

Dorsal root ganglion transcriptome analysis following peripheral nerve injury in mice

open access: yesMolecular Pain, 2016
Background Peripheral nerve injury leads to changes in gene expression in primary sensory neurons of the injured dorsal root ganglia. These changes are believed to be involved in neuropathic pain genesis.

Loss of SHP1 in Spinal Astrocytes Triggers T‐Lymphocyte Infiltration and Nociceptive Hypersensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Astrocyte‐specific SHP1 deletion disrupts astrocyte–vascular interactions and compromises BBB integrity while enhancing STAT1‐dependent CXCL10 expression. These changes synergistically promote peripheral CD4+ and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration into the SDH. The infiltrating T cells secrete IFN‐γ, which in turn activates microglia.

Distinct calcitonin gene-related peptide expression pattern in primary afferents contribute to different neuropathic symptoms following chronic constriction or crush injuries to the rat sciatic nerve

open access: yesMolecular Pain, 2016
Although calcitonin gene-related peptide is a recognized pain transducer, the expression of calcitonin gene-related peptide in primary afferents may be differentially affected following different types of nerve injury. Here, we examined whether different

Enhanced T-type calcium channel 3.2 activity in sensory neurons contributes to neuropathic-like pain of monosodium iodoacetate-induced knee osteoarthritis

open access: yesMolecular Pain, 2020
The monosodium iodoacetate knee osteoarthritis model has been widely used for the evaluation of osteoarthritis pain, but the pathogenesis of associated chronic pain is not fully understood.

Studies on the mechanosensory innervation of muscle using organotypic culture, reinnervation and immunohistochemistry [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
This thesis studies sensory innervation in mammals using an organotypic co-culture of spinal cord-dorsal root ganglion and skeletal muscle of embryonic rat, the histological changes of reinnervated muscle spindles after nerve section and the localisation

Intranasal Delivery of Gallium–Quercetin Nanoparticles for Multi‐Target Ferroptosis Inhibition in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Leveraging the chemical similarity between Ga3+ and Fe3+ as well as the antioxidant properties of quercetin, gallium–quercetin nanoparticles (GQNPs) were prepared to integrate iron homeostasis regulation, oxidative stress suppression, and mitochondrial protection for multi‐target ferroptosis inhibition in Parkinson's Disease.
