Neuromorphic Devices and Computing for Sensing, Memory, and Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review introduces neuromorphic devices made from diverse materials. These devices mimic neuronal functions and architectures and, when integrated with artificial or biological computing, can form closed loops with neurons for pressure, optical, acoustic, and biochemical sensing and modulation.

Immunohistochemical Detection of Tentonin-3/TMEM150C in Human Dorsal Root Ganglion, Cutaneous End-Organ Complexes, and Muscle Spindles

open access: yesBrain Sciences
Background/Objectives: Tentonin-3/TMEM150C is a pore-forming protein of a mechanically activated channel recently identified that typically displays rapid activation followed by slow inactivation.

Generation of New Neurons in Dorsal Root Ganglia in Adult Rats after Peripheral Nerve Crush Injury

open access: yesNeural Plasticity, 2015
The evidence of neurons generated ex novo in sensory ganglia of adult animals is still debated. In the present study, we investigated, using high resolution light microscopy and stereological analysis, the changes in the number of neurons in dorsal root ...

ZBTB18 Dysfunction Promotes Neuropathic Pain via CHD4‐based Epigenetic Disinhibition of CLIC1 Channels in Sensory Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, we identify a novel functional role of ZBTB18 in regulating trigeminal‐mediated neuropathic pain. Nerve injury reduces ZBTB18 in trigeminal ganglion neurons, impairing CHD4/NuRD recruitment and de‐repressing Clic1. Elevated CLIC1 enhances chloride channel activity and neuronal hyperexcitability, thereby driving pain.

Downregulation of miR-219 enhances brain-derived neurotrophic factor production in mouse dorsal root ganglia to mediate morphine analgesic tolerance by upregulating CaMKIIγ

open access: yesMolecular Pain, 2016
Background Increasing evidence suggests that microRNAs are functionally involved in the initiation and maintenance of pain hypersensitivity, including chronic morphine analgesic tolerance, through the posttranscriptional regulation of pain-related genes.

The Adipose‐Sympathetic Nerve Crosstalk: FSTL1 as an Adipocyte‐Derived Neurotrophic Factor for WAT Browning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As a novel adipose‐derived neurotrophic factor, Follistatin‐like 1 is endocytosed by sympathetic neurons primarily via tropomyosin‐related kinase B. This process promotes sympathetic innervation in adipose tissue and norepinephrine release, leading to white adipose tissue browning, enhanced thermogenesis, and anti‐obesity effects in mice.

Intracerebroventricular Administration of Nerve Growth Factor Induces Gliogenesis in Sensory Ganglia, Dorsal Root, and within the Dorsal Root Entry Zone [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Previous studies indicated that intracerebroventricular administration of nerve growth factor (NGF) leads to massive Schwann cell hyperplasia surrounding the medulla oblongata and spinal cord.

Abstract Representation of Movement Parameters in Basal Ganglia Output

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The basal ganglia output provides a scalable velocity/position signal across behavioral contexts, supporting the idea that these variables are represented in the brain as abstract entities rather than as fixed changes in joint angles or specific sets of body effectors.

Representations of hindlimb digits in rat dorsal root ganglia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The distribution in dorsal root ganglia of neurones that innervate the distal tips of the hindlimb digits in the rat were mapped after subcutaneous injections of the fluorescent tracers Fast Blue, Diamidino Yellow, and Fluoro-Gold into different digits ...
