Human ABCE1 cannot functionally replace its yeast ortholog. Yeast–human chimera analysis identified NBD1 as a major interspecies barrier. Genetic screening yielded hABCE1 revertants that rescue yeast viability but fail to suppress aberrant translation reinitiation in the 3′ UTR.

Chronobiology of Cancer: How Aging Fuels Oncogenesis at the Molecular Level
This graphical abstract illustrates the key biological pathways linking aging with cancer development and progression. In the upper left, cumulative exposure to ultraviolet radiation, toxins, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) causes DNA damage and genomic instability, whereas age‐related decline in repair mechanisms, such as ATM/ATR, BER, and NER ...

Drosophila MSL complex globally acetylates H4K16 on the male X chromosome for dosage compensation [PDF]
The Drosophila melanogaster male-specific lethal (MSL) complex binds the single male X chromosome to upregulate gene expression to equal that from the two female X chromosomes. However, it has been puzzling that approximately 25% of transcribed genes on the X chromosome do not stably recruit MSL complex. Here we find that almost all active genes on the

The Drosophila CLAMP protein associates with diverse proteins on chromatin. [PDF]
Gaining new insights into gene regulation involves an in-depth understanding of protein-protein interactions on chromatin. A powerful model for studying mechanisms of gene regulation is dosage compensation, a process that targets the X-chromosome to ...

ABSTRACT Introduction/Objective Acute intracranial stenting during endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for ischemic stroke requires intraprocedural antiplatelet therapy (APT) to maintain patency. However, the hemorrhagic risk of combining APT with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) remains uncertain.

Ordered assembly of roX RNAs into MSL complexes on the dosage-compensated X chromosome in Drosophila [PDF]
In the male Drosophila, the X chromosome is transcriptionally upregulated to achieve dosage compensation, in a process that depends on association of the MSL proteins with the X chromosome. A role for non-coding RNAs has been suggested in recent studies.

Changes in chromosome number impair fitness by disrupting the balance of gene expression. Here we analyze mechanisms to compensate for changes in gene dose that accompanied the evolution of sex chromosomes from autosomes.

Sustainability assessment requires methodologies that appropriately distinguish between additive and non‐additive material properties. A toxicity‐weighted scoring system is developed and applied that accounts for the disproportionate influence of highly toxic constituents through nonlinear weighting functions, providing more realistic estimates than ...

Expression in aneuploid Drosophila S2 cells.
Extensive departures from balanced gene dose in aneuploids are highly deleterious. However, we know very little about the relationship between gene copy number and expression in aneuploid cells.

Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights
