Dose calculations for [131I] meta-iodobenzylguanidine-induced bystander effects

open access: yes, 2014
Targeted radiotherapy is a potentially useful treatment for some cancers and may be potentiated by bystander effects. However, without estimation of absorbed dose, it is difficult to compare the effects with conventional external radiation treatment ...

Value of low-dose and optimized-length computed tomography (CT) scan in CT-guided percutaneous transthoracic needle biopsy of pulmonary nodules

open access: yesJournal of Interventional Medicine, 2021
Objective: To investigate the value of application of low-dose and optimized length CT scan on puncture results, complications and patients’ radiation dosage during CT-guided percutaneous biopsy of pulmonary nodules (PTNB).

Submillisievert CT chest for COVID-19 patients in a rural hospital with limited resources

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, 2022
Background This is a secondary analysis of prospectively acquired data approved by the hospital institutional board committee. We performed a retrospective chart review of 463 patients who underwent a CT Chest for suspected COVID-19 infection between ...

Correlation between Body Mass Index and Radiation Dose Metrics in Adult Thorax and Abdomen Computed Tomography Examination: A Cross-sectional Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Introduction: Computed Tomography (CT) procedures contribute significantly to medical radiation exposure and therefore necessitate the implementation of optimisation measures that balance diagnostic image quality with patient safety. Body Mass Index (BMI)

Image quality and radiation dose assessment for the clinically applied 16-slice CT scanner using PMMA phantom and quality assurance phantom

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, 2023
The goal of this study was to assess the radiation dose delivered accuracy and the acceptable image quality parameter from the 16-slice Philips CT scanner in order to evaluate the current methodology for quality controls of computed tomography systems ...

Prediction of Dose Length Product for chest CT Examinations using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN)

open access: yes, 2022
Abstract This study aimed to design an Artificial Neural Network modelling to estimate the remarkable dose length product (DLP) value during the chest computed tomography (CT) examinations for quality assurance in a retrospective, cross-sectional study.

ON THE AUTOMORPHISMS OF THE NONSPLIT CARTAN MODULAR CURVES OF PRIME LEVEL [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We study the automorphisms of the nonsplit Cartan modular curves Xns(p) of prime level p. We prove that if p ≥ 29 all the automorphisms preserve the cusps.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Radiation dose metrics in multidetector computed tomography examinations: A multicentre retrospective study from seven tertiary care hospitals in Kerala, South India

open access: yesIndian Journal of Radiology and Imaging, 2018
Background: Presently, computed tomography (CT) is the most important source of medical radiation exposure. CT radiation doses vary considerably across institutions depending on the protocol and make of equipment.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...
