Hawking radiation in sonic black holes [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.Lett. 94 (2005) 061302, 2004
I present a microscopic description of Hawking radiation in sonic black holes. A one-dimensional Fermi-degenerate liquid squeezed by a smooth barrier forms a transonic flow, a sonic analogue of a black hole. The quantum treatment of the non-interacting case establishes a close relationship between the Hawking radiation and quantum tunnelling through ...

Evaluating Dose-response of Cataract Induction in Radiotherapy of Head and Neck Cancers Patients [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Physics and Engineering, 2021
Background: Head and neck cancers are currently the most common types of cancers. 3D-conformal radiation therapy is the most common dose delivery technique for head and neck cancers.

A unified dose response relationship to predict high dose fractionation response in the lung cancer stereotactic body radiation therapy

open access: yesJournal of Medical Physics, 2017
Aim: This study is designed to investigate the superiority and applicability of the model among the linear-quadratic (LQ), linear-quadratic-linear (LQ-L) and universal-survival-curve (USC) models by fitting published radiation cell survival data of lung ...

Differential response to acute low dose radiation in primary and immortalized endothelial cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Purpose : The low dose radiation response of primary human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) and its immortalized derivative, the EA.hy926 cell line, was evaluated and compared. Material and methods: DNA damage and repair, cell cycle progression,

Dose rate and energy dependency of an electronic personal dosemeter

open access: yesSaúde & Tecnologia, 2015
Introduction – The measurement of occupational exposure to radiation doses can be completed with an electronic personal dosemeter that allows a direct reading and alarm function of the received radiation dose.

Comparison of statistical post-processing methods for probabilistic NWP forecasts of solar radiation [PDF]

open access: yesSolar Energy, volume 191, 2019, pages 138-150, 2019
The increased usage of solar energy places additional importance on forecasts of solar radiation. Solar panel power production is primarily driven by the amount of solar radiation and it is therefore important to have accurate forecasts of solar radiation.

Dose response relationships for gamma radiation induced chromosomal instability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
ABSTRACTDifferent cell lines demonstrate various dose response for radiation-induced chromosomal instability (RICI). To clarify the origin of differences we analyzed own and published data on RICI for four cell lines, V79, TK6, WTK1 and CHO-K1 on the basis of the mechanistic RICI model.

Hawking Radiation Energy and Entropy from a Bianchi-Smerlak Semiclassical Black Hole [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. D 92, 083005 (2015), 2015
Eugenio Bianchi and Matteo Smerlak have found a relationship between the Hawking radiation energy and von Neumann entropy in a conformal field emitted by a semiclassical two-dimensional black hole. We compare this relationship with what might be expected for unitary evolution of a quantum black hole in four and higher dimensions.
