Dose–Response Relationship in Radiation Leukæmia: the Marking Probit

open access: yesNature, 1959
Statistical methods are applied in an analysis of data on radioinduced leukemia. It is concluded that available data do not provide statistical control of the best fit. (C.H.)

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Radiotherapy Dosing for Locally Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Carcinoma: “MTD” or “ALARA”?

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2017
Locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (LA-NSCLC) is typically treated with thoracic radiotherapy, often in combination with cytotoxic chemotherapy.

The Double Threshold: Consequences for Identifying Low-Dose Radiation Effects

open access: yesDose-Response, 2020
Prior to observing low-dose-induced cell signaling and adaptive protection, radiogenic stochastic effects were assumed to be linearly related to absorbed dose.

Opposite roles for p38MAPK-driven responses and reactive oxygen species in the persistence and resolution of radiation-induced genomic instability. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
We report the functional and temporal relationship between cellular phenotypes such as oxidative stress, p38MAPK-dependent responses and genomic instability persisting in the progeny of cells exposed to sparsely ionizing low-Linear Energy Transfer (LET ...

Treating cutaneous T-cell lymphoma with highly irregular surfaces with photon irradiation using rice as tissue compensator. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
PurposeCutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) is known to have an excellent response to radiotherapy, an important treatment modality for this disease.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Experimental Research of Pulse Gamma Ray Radiation Effect on Neutron Irradiated NPN Bipolar Transistors

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu
In order to further elucidate the influence of neutron pre-irradiation on the pulse gamma ray radiation effect of NPN bipolar transistors, the photocurrent response experiments of transient ionizing radiation were performed after NPN bipolar transistors ...

Cancer risk estimates from the combined Japanese A-bomb and Hodgkin cohorts for doses relevant to radiotherapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Most information on the dose-response of radiation-induced cancer is derived from data on the A-bomb survivors who were exposed to γ-rays and neutrons.

Is There a Dose-Response Relationship for Heart Disease With Low-Dose Radiation Therapy? [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 2013
To quantify cardiac radiation therapy (RT) exposure using sensitive measures of cardiac dysfunction; and to correlate dysfunction with heart doses, in the setting of adjuvant RT for left-sided breast cancer. On a randomized trial, 32 women with node-positive left-sided breast cancer underwent pre-RT stress single photon emission computed tomography ...
