Comparative analysis of the structural, thermal, and textural properties of four animal‐based seafood species – salmon, scallop, squid, and snapper and their commercially available plant‐based analogues. ABSTRACT This study compares the structural and functional properties of four animal‐based seafood species such as salmon, scallop, squid, and snapper,

A comparison across non-model animals suggests an optimal sequencing depth for de novo transcriptome assembly [PDF]
Background: The lack of genomic resources can present challenges for studies of non-model organisms. Transcriptome sequencing offers an attractive method to gather information about genes and gene expression without the need for a reference genome ...

Jumbo squid (Dosidicus gigas) in situ target strength measurements in northwest Mexico
In order to convert acoustic abundance indexes into biomass is essential to establish the relationship between squid size dorsal mantle length (DML) and acoustic Target Strength (TS). We had carried out in situ measurement in 2012 off Baja California on Dosidicus gigas.

Stock assessment of jumbo squid Dosidicus gigas in northwest Mexico
The population dynamics of jumbo squid Dosidicus gigas from northwest Mexico was evaluated for the period 1974-2012 using Schaefer’s model, where model parameters were estimated with the catch maximum sustainable yield method (Catch-MSY) using two prior intrinsic population increase rate (r) range values (1.0 to 2.0 and 1.5 to 2.0).

Ion‐Electron Fusion Transparent Film for Interactive Soft Robotics
An ion‐electron fusion transparent film with stable conductivity, high optical transmittance, and a broad linear strain‐sensing range of up to 300% is developed, attributed to the synergistic effects of ion penetration and microcrack design. When applied to soft robots, this film imparts proprioceptive sensing and underwater visible light communication

Comments about the relationship between temperature and giant squid catches
The fishery of the giant squid (Dosidicus gigas D'Orbigny, 1835) is an unstable resource that has shown wide variations in its abundance and availability in the last 20 years, which were tried to be explained by a hypothesis that related the effects of ...
