A unified method of predicting soil deformations induced by general and special-section tunneling in clays is proposed. Assuming that the tunneling-induced ground loss can be divided into infinite ground loss elements, and the soil deformation induced by

Quantum pumping in deformable quantum dots [PDF]
The charge current pumped adiabatically through a deformable quantum dot is studied within the Green's function approach. Differently from the non-deformable case, the current shows an undefined parity with respect to the pumping phase ϕ. The unconventional current-phase relation, analyzed in the weak pumping regime, is due to a dynamical phase shift ...

Deformation potentials of CdSe quantum dots [PDF]
The size-dependent deformation potentials of CdSe quantum dots are studied by first-principle and semiempirical pseudopotential calculations. We find that the amplitude of the quantum dot deformation potential is only slightly larger than the bulk value, and this increase is mostly caused by the off-Γ point deformation potentials in the bulk, which are

Ellipsoidal deformation of vertical quantum dots [PDF]
Addition energy spectra at 0 T of circular and ellipsoidally deformed few-electron vertical quantum dots are measured and compared to results of model calculations within spin-density functional theory. Because of the rotational symmetry of the lateral harmonic confining potential, circular dots show a pronounced shell structure.

Quantum chaos in a deformable billiard: Applications to quantum dots [PDF]
We perform a detailed numerical study of energy-level and wavefunction statistics of a deformable quantum billiard focusing on properties relevant to semiconductor quantum dots. We consider the family of Robnik billiards generated by simple conformal maps of the unit disk; the shape of this family of billiards may be varied continuously at fixed area ...

INFLUENCE OF THE QUANTUM DOT MATERIAL DEFORMATION ON TAMM SURFACE LEVELS

The Influence of Ultrasound on Formation of Self-organized Uniform Nanoclusters [PDF]
The non-linear diffusion-deformation theory of self-organization of nanoclusters of dot defects in semiconductor exposed to ultrasound treatment that considers the interaction of defects among themselves and with atoms of a matrix via the elastic field ...
