An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Recursive formula for the double-barrier Parisian stopping time [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper we obtain a recursive formula for the density of the double-barrier Parisian stopping time. We present a probabilistic proof of the formula for the first few steps of the recursion, and then a formal proof using explicit Laplace inversions.

Barrier height inhomogeneity in electrical transport characteristics of InGaN/GaN heterostructure interfaces

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2015
We have grown InGaN/GaN heterostructures using plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy and studied the temperature dependent electrical transport characteristics. The barrier height (φb) and the ideally factor (η) estimated using thermionic emission model

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Simulation and Fabrication of Double Barrier Structure of P-I-N Amorphous Silicon (a-Si) Device

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical and Fundamental Sciences, 2019
. The application of double barrier (DB) structure in p-i-n amorphous silicon (a-Si) device was studied. The theoretical study was done to obtain device parameters such as tunneling probability and current density.

Resonant tunneling of electrons in AlSb/GaInAsSb double barrier quantum wells

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
We have studied the optical and electronic transport properties of n-type AlSb/GaInAsSb double barrier quantum well resonant tunneling diodes (RTDs). The RTDs were grown by molecular beam epitaxy on GaSb substrates.

Coherence effects in double-barrier Josephson junctions [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2000
The general solution for ballistic electronic transport through double-barrier Josephson junctions is derived. We show the existence of a regime of phase-coherent transport in which the supercurrent is proportional to the single barrier transparency and the way in which this coherence is destroyed for increasing interlayer thickness.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Greatly enhanced tunneling electroresistance in ferroelectric tunnel junctions with a double barrier design

open access: yesnpj Computational Materials, 2023
We propose that the double barrier effect is expected to enhance the tunneling electroresistance (TER) in the ferroelectric tunnel junctions (FTJs). To demonstrate the feasibility of this mechanism, we design a model structure of Pt/BaTiO3/LaAlO3/Pt ...
