Quantum Coherence Effects in Four-level Diamond Atomic System

open access: yes, 2008
A symmetric four-level closed-loop $\diamondsuit$ type (the diamond structure) atomic system driven by four coherent optical fields is investigated. The system shows rich quantum interference and coherence features. When symmetry of the system is broken,

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Doping change and distortion effect on double-exchange ferromagnetism

open access: yes, 2005
Doping change and distortion effect on the double-exchange ferromagnetism are studied within a simplified double-exchange model. The presence of distortion is modelled by introducing the Falicov-Kimball interaction between itinerant electrons and ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Thermodynamic performance analysis of the double effect absorption-vapour compression cascade refrigeration cycle

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2018
Absorption refrigeration cycles, the developed as an alternative to vapour-compression refrigeration cycles they are not effective at low temperatures. When the absorption and vapour compression cycles are combined as cascade the consumed compressor work

Evaluation of a high temperature adhesive for fabricating graphite/PMR-15 polyimide structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Tests are conducted to measure shear strength, shear modulus and flatwise tensile strength of the A7F (amide-imide modified LARC-13) adhesive system.

Descreening of Field Effect in Electrically Gated Nanopores

open access: yes, 2010
This modeling work investigates the electrical modulation characteristics of field-effect gated nanopores. Highly nonlinear current modulations are observed in nanopores with non-overlapping electric double layers, including those with pore diameters 100

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Orbital Kondo effect in a parallel double quantum dot

open access: yes, 2014
We construct a theoretical model to study the orbital Kondo effect in a parallel double quantum dot (DQD). Recently, pseudospin-resolved transport spectroscopy of the orbital Kondo effect in a DQD has been experimentally reported. The experiment revealed
