Modeling the evolution of natural cliffs subject to weathering. 2, Discrete element approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The evolution of slopes subjected to weathering has been modeled by assuming Mohr-Coulomb behavior and by using a numerical approach based on the discrete element method (DEM).

The heterodimeric amino acid transporters (HAT) of the SLC7/SLC3 family: A structure−function relationships and relevance to human pathology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heterodimeric amino acid transporters consist of SLC7 and SLC3 family proteins arranged in a conserved structural organization. They regulate nutrient transport across cell membranes, supporting essential cellular functions. These transporters also contribute to xenobiotic/drug uptake and distribution.

Study of UAV line-of-sight communication probability and propagation loss for mountain in 110 GHz band

open access: yesDianzi Jishu Yingyong
This paper establishes a millimeter-wave channel model for unmanned aerial vehicles based on line-of-sight probability using the ray tracing method, and a double-slope model analysis is carried out for path loss. This paper describes the modeling process

Metastatic niche shaped by host factors influences disseminated cancer cell fate

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metastasis is shaped not only by cancer cells but also by the environments they encounter. This review explores how factors such as aging, diet, the microbiome, lifestyle, and environmental exposures remodel organ‐specific niches in the lung, liver, bone, and brain, influencing where metastatic cells survive, remain dormant, or grow, and ultimately ...

Double dual slope multiplier‐cum‐divider

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2013
A novel type of analogue multiplier‐cum‐divider is described. A square waveform of period T which is proportional to V 2 / V 1 , where V

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

Performance Comparision Of Multi Slope Solar Still With Double Slope Still

open access: yes, 2016
The growing scarcity of fresh water source is driving the implementation of desalination on an increasingly large scale. The idea of using renewable energy source is fundamentally attractive and many studies have been conducted in this area. Solar distillation is one of the promising effect that uses solar radiation effectively to produce fresh water.

CRACK INFLUENCE ON A PIPE WITH DOUBLE SLOPE UNDER INTERNAL PRESSURE: NUMERICAL SIMULATION WITH XFEM

open access: yesInternational Islamic University Malaysia Engineering Journal, 2020
This work analyses the effect of elliptical cracks on a pipe with double slope thickness transition, using the extended finite element method (XFEM), level sets were defined to describe the three-dimensional (3D) cracks.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Shallow flows of generalised Newtonian fluids on an inclined plane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We derive a general evolution equation for a shallow layer of a generalised Newtonian fluid undergoing two-dimensional gravity-driven flow on an inclined plane.
