Genetic variants and down-regulation of CACNA1H in pheochromocytoma. [PDF]

open access: yesEndocr Relat Cancer
Pheochromocytoma (PCC) and abdominal paraganglioma (aPGL) (together abbreviated PPGL) frequently present with an underlying genetic event in a PPGL driver gene, and additional susceptibility genes are anticipated. Here, we re-analyzed whole-exome sequencing data for PCC patients and identified two patients with rare missense variants in the calcium ...

SOX7 is down-regulated in lung cancer [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, 2013
Abstract Background SOX7 is a transcription factor belonging to the SOX family. Its role in lung cancer is unknown. Methods In this study, whole genomic copy number analysis was performed on a series of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines and samples from ...

Hypnosis and top-down regulation of consciousness [PDF]

open access: yesNeuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews, 2017
Hypnosis is a unique form of top-down regulation in which verbal suggestions are capable of eliciting pronounced changes in a multitude of psychological phenomena. Hypnotic suggestion has been widely used both as a technique for studying basic science questions regarding human consciousness but also as a method for targeting a range of symptoms within ...

Down-regulation of Delta by proteolytic processing [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Cell Biology, 2002
Notch signaling regulates cell fate decisions during development through local cell interactions. Signaling is triggered by the interaction of the Notch receptor with its transmembrane ligands expressed on adjacent cells. Recent studies suggest that Delta is cleaved to release an extracellular fragment, DlEC, by a mechanism that involves the activity ...

Mechanism for down-regulation of CD28 by Nef [PDF]

open access: yesThe EMBO Journal, 2001
SIV and HIV Nef proteins disrupt T-cell receptor machinery by down-modulating cell surface expression of CD4 and expression or signaling of CD3-TCR. Nef also down-modulates class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC) surface expression. We show that SIV and HIV-1 Nefs down-modulate CD28, a major co-stimulatory receptor that mediates effective T-cell

Down-regulation of CEACAM1 in breast cancer [PDF]

open access: yesActa Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica, 2015
Carcinoembryonic antigen-related adhesion molecule 1 (CEACAM1) is a type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the CEA family, which has been found to exist as either soluble forms in body fluids or membrane-bound forms on the cell surface. Aberrant CEACAM1 expression is associated with tumor progression and has been found in a variety of human ...

Optimal Down Regulation of mRNA Translation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
AbstractDown regulation of mRNA translation is an important problem in various bio-medical domains ranging from developing effective medicines for tumors and for viral diseases to developing attenuated virus strains that can be used for vaccination. Here, we study the problem of down regulation of mRNA translation using a mathematical model called the ...

Down-Regulation of Testicular Aromatization in the Horse [PDF]

open access: yesBiology of Reproduction, 1989
A single i.m. injection of testosterone (750 mg of testosterone bexahydrobenzoate) or i.v. injection of human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) (10,000 IU) was given to geldings and stallions. Levels of unconjugated and conjugated (after solvolysis) androgens and estrogens were measured in blood and urine samples taken daily from the day of injection (D0 ...

Down-regulation of the interferon receptor.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1982
The binding of 125I-labeled alpha A interferon to human lymphoblastoid Daudi cells decreased when these cells were incubated with unlabeled alpha or beta interferon. This decrease could not be accounted for by the occupancy of interferon receptors with unlabeled interferon and it apparently resulted from the loss or down-regulation of receptors.

Tollip-induced down-regulation of MARCH1

open access: yesResults in Immunology, 2013
In addition to their classical antigen presenting functions, MHC class II molecules potentiate the TLR-triggered production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Here, we have addressed the effect of Tollip and MARCH1 on the regulation of MHC II trafficking and TLR signaling.
