USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Migration in anadromous brown trout

open access: yes, 2016
This thesis investigates the anadromous migration of brown trout (Salmo trutta) with the overall aim to improve stock management within the region. Several field studies were conducted in different streams and coastal areas on the west coast of Sweden ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Disrupted downstream migration behaviour of European silver eels (Anguilla anguilla, L.) in an obstructed river

open access: yes, 2016
International audienceIn the European eel (Anguilla anguilla, L.), the steep decline of reproductive silver eels is partly due to disorientation and mortality during their downstream migration, when facing turbines, but also reservoirs and dams.

Patterns of silver eel (Anguilla anguilla L.) sex ratio in a catchment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Changes in the numbers and size-class structure of European silver eels, Anguilla anguilla, in the River Fre´mur (France) were examined over a 9-year period after installation of downstream eel passes.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

The ErbB2 receptor and breast carcinoma cell migration : memo is a novel mediator of cell motility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The ErbB family of receptor tyrosine kinases play important role in normal physiological processes occurring during development; moreover, their deregulated expression has been implicated in human cancer. Cancer patients, whose tumors have alterations in

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Session E3: Overall Downstream Migration Success

open access: yes, 2015
: The Rhine countries identified 552 major bottlenecks (height > 2 m) for downstream migration along the river Rhine and its bigger tributaries (> 2500 km², map to be shown).
