Doxorubicin Selectively Inhibits Brain versus Atrial Natriuretic Peptide Gene Expression in Cultured Neonatal Rat Myocytes

open access: yes, 1999
Doxorubicin is an antineoplastic agent with significant cardiotoxicity. We examined the effects of this agent on the expression of the natriuretic peptide (NP) genes in cultured neonatal rat atrial myocytes.

Doxorubicin-Loaded Liposome with the Function of “Killing Two Birds with One Stone” against Glioma

open access: yes, 2023
The blood–brain barrier (BBB) continues to be one of the main clinical obstacles in the treatment of glioma. Current chemotherapies always bring many different side effects, some even permanent.

Bioorthogonal Photoactivation of 2‐Nitrobenzyl Caged Doxorubicin Anticancer Prodrugs on Gold Nanostars

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bioorthogonal chemistry was applied to intracellularly photoactivate Doxorubicin (Dox) using gold nanostars (AuNSt) and near‐infrared (NIR) light. Two prodrugs were used: one photoactivatable, masked with 2‐nitrobenzyl carbamate (proDox1) and another photolabile, masked with 2‐nitrobenzyl diol (proDox2), which was attached to the AuNSt surface.

A comparison of poly(methyl methacrylate) and silorane-based cements as carriers for local doxorubicin delivery

open access: yesJournal of Materials Science: Materials in Medicine
Orthopedic osteosarcomas and metastatic lesions can be difficult to treat with systemically delivered chemotherapy agents alone. Following removal of the primary tumor, implantation of cement to fill the lesion is often done to stabilize weight-bearing ...
