Significant Phonon Drag Enables High Power Factor in the AlGaN/GaN Two-Dimensional Electron Gas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In typical thermoelectric energy harvesters and sensors, the Seebeck effect is caused by diffusion of electrons or holes in a temperature gradient. However, the Seebeck effect can also have a phonon drag component, due to momentum exchange between charge

Drag coefficient of a liquid domain in a two-dimensional membrane

open access: yes, 2010
Using a hydrodynamic theory that incorporates a momentum decay mechanism, we calculate the drag coefficient of a circular liquid domain of finite viscosity moving in a two-dimensional membrane.

Drag Coefficients of Golf Balls

open access: yesWorld Journal of Mechanics, 2018
Drag across a golf ball can affect distance traveled when hitting a ball. An average golf ball will have a drag coefficient of, 0.24 35 m/s. This research found that a significantly deeper dimple pattern will greatly affect the boundary layer, thus changing the drag coefficient and boundary layer.

Computational investigation on drag coefficient and pressure distribution of the truck with add-on

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
The current demand for reducing the drag coefficient represents one of the most significant challenges for all truck manufacturers. Fuel consumption can be improved via aerodynamic effects, which lower the vehicle’s drag coefficient.

Unraveling the Effect of Tramp Elements on Phase Transformations in Steels by Combining CALPHAD Modeling and Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates how tramp elements from increased scrap usage influence phase transformations in low‐alloyed steel. Combining dilatometry and microscopy reveal that tramp elements delay transformations, reduce critical cooling rates and increase hardenability.
