An Edible Biohybrid Platform Accomplishes In Situ Fenton‐Mediated Enteral Nanoplastics Aging and Excretion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An edible biohybrid platform triggers nanoplastics (NPs) aging and agglomeration by in situ generating hydroxyl radicals within the intestine. The enlarged NPs are unable to penetrate the intestine and are subsequently excreted. Simultaneously, probiotic biofilms reinforce the intestinal barrier.

Occurrence of Trace Inorganic Contaminants in Drinking Water Distribution Systems

open access: yes, 2015
Many trace inorganic contaminants (e.g., lead, arsenic, nickel, vanadium, uranium) can accumulate on the surface of or be occluded within corrosion scales formed in drinking water distribution systems (DWDSs).

Pharmacological Inhibition of FKBP51 Mitigates Early Life Adversity‐Induced Social Deficits in Male Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Early life adversity triggers persistent social subordination and brain‐wide molecular dysregulation. Pharmacological inhibition of the stress‐mediator FKBP51 during the adversity period prevents these long‐term deficits and restores normative social hierarchy.

Membrane filtration reduces nutrient availability and invasion potential in drinking water systems, without affecting mature biofilms

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Ensuring biostable drinking water is a growing priority for drinking water utilities, especially in non- or minimally chlorinated distribution systems where microbial regrowth is controlled through nutrient limitation.

The Spatiotemporal Genetic Architecture of Seed Vigor in Upland Cotton

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Leveraging the semi‐automated SeedRanger platform, we profiled the germination kinetics of 356 cotton accessions at a 30‐min interval. This high‐throughput phenomic approach delineated a temporal genetic network comprising 541 stage‐specific loci. Crucially, functional validation identified FLA2 as a pivotal, auxin‐modulated regulator that orchestrates

One‐Step Preparation of Lanthanide‐Doped Polyurea Multicolor Microspheres for Versatile Fluorescent Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lanthanide‐doped polyurea microspheres are prepared via a facile one‐step precipitation polymerization. They exhibit strong hydrogen‐bonding and coordination interactions with excellent properties, including multicolor emission, high quantum yield (75.3%), remarkable stability, redispersibility, and biocompatibility.

A STUDY OF LEAKAGE OF TRACE METALS FROM CORROSION OF THE MUNICIPAL DRINKING WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2003
Introduction: A high portion of lead and copper concentration in municipal drinking water is related to the metallic structure of the distribution system and facets.

Efficient Concentration and Complete Destruction of Short‐Chain and Emerging PFAS in Contaminated Water via Integrated Interface Engineering‐Enhanced Carbon Felt Sorption and Photochemical Processes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A closed‐loop “Concentrate‐Destroy” strategy is presented for completely eliminating short‐chain and emerging PFAS, in which the new 3D PPy@P‐CF is used for efficiently concentrating PFAS and Cu2+‐mediated photodegradation is applied for the completely destroying PFAS in the sorbent regeneration eluent.

Asset management in urban water utilities: Case study in India [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Access to safe and sufficient drinking water and adequate sanitation are now recognized as basic human rights. One Millennium Development Goal is to reduce by half the proportion of people without access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation by ...
