Optical fibre polishing with a motor-driven polishing wheel [PDF]

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1988
The polishing of optical fibres is demonstrated using an abrasive polishing wheel. The approach requires that only the fibre itself is polished and allows arbitrarily long interaction lengths to be generated with losses of less than 0.1 dB.

Behind the Wheel of Epithelial Plasticity in KRAS-Driven Cancers [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2019
Cellular plasticity, a feature associated with epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), contributes to tumor cell survival, migration, invasion, and therapy resistance. Phenotypic plasticity of the epithelium is a critical feature in multiple phases of human cancer in an oncogene- and tissue-specific context.

Design and Control of Disc PMSM Directly Driven Wheel for Tramcar

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2014
A new solution of disc permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) directly driven wheel is proposed as a design customized for low floor tramcar. And the motors are overhung on the bogie frame to make the weight as the sprung mass.

A Concept of the Differentially Driven Three Wheeled Robot [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2013
The paper deals with the concept of a differentially driven three wheeled robot. The main task for the robot is to follow the navigation black line on white ground. The robot also contains anti-collision sensors for avoiding obstacles on track. Students learn how to deal with signals from sensors and how to control DC motors.
