Investigation of the Driving Comfort of the DE-REX Powertrain based on Vehicle Measurements

open access: yesIFAC-PapersOnLine, 2019
The “Two-Drive-Transmission with Range-Extender” (DE-REX) is a parallel-series powertrain concept, which was developed and set up in a demonstrator vehicle in the course of a publicly funded project.

Adaptive Comfort Degree-Days: an index to compare adaptive comfort standards and estimate changes in energy consumption for future UK climates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper introduces the concept of the Adaptive Comfort Degree-Day, a temperature difference/time composite metric, as a means of comparing energy savings from Adaptive Comfort Model standards by quantifying the extent to which the temperature limits ...

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

Uniform Amorphization of Crystalline Silicon Surfaces Enabled by Deep Ultraviolet Femtosecond Laser Pulses

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Deep‐UV (258 nm) femtosecond pulses enable uniform amorphous silicon writing on Si(100)/(111) with a six‐fold larger fluence amorphization window than NIR methods. Optimized fluence and overlap yield 20–45 nm uniform and continuous amorphous layers. Microscopy shows sharp interfaces, and real‐time reflectivity reveals nanosecond melt–resolidification ...

Automatic Driving Process Modeling and Solving of the Riding Comfort Optimal Problem for Metro Train

open access: yesKongzhi Yu Xinxi Jishu, 2018
Riding comfort optimal driving problem is a typical one in automatic driving system for metro trains. An optimal riding comfort driving model for a metro train traveling between stations was established, which takes the traction and brake characteristics

Adaptive Potential Field-Based Path Planning for Complex Autonomous Driving Scenarios

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
An adaptive potential field is designed to adapt the acceleration/deceleration and mass of the obstacle. The potential fields are established in a transformed road coordinate system to improve the feasibility and robustness.

Implementation of a Driving Diary Intervention to Reduce Aberrant Driving Behaviours [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Crash data involving taxis indicates that such drivers are over represented in crashes and are one to two times more likely to be involved in a fatality crash. This study reports on the pre intervention survey to provide a baseline measure of the self-

Architecture‐Driven Sensor Stability in Weft‐Knitted Engineering Textiles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Textile‐integrated sensor architectures are systematically compared to evaluate their electromechanical behavior under combined mechanical and environmental loading. Pocket‐based integration exhibits stable and reproducible signals, whereas tunnel‐based routing shows higher sensitivity accompanied by increased variability.

Assessing Driver Comfort and In-Chair Movements in an Automotive Seat with Anti-Fatigue Massage Function

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Prolonged driving is associated with fatigue and reduced comfort, jeopardizing driver safety. This study proposes an innovative Anti-Fatigue Massage Function (AFMF) system integrated into a driver’s seat to improve subjective comfort and decrease ...
