Comparative Morphometry of Bactrian Camel and Dromedary

Journal of Mammalian Evolution, 2017
There are two living species of Old World camelids (Camelidae, Artiodactyla): the Bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus) and the dromedary (Camelus dromedarius). Differences in osteology between them are poorly known, and this lack of knowledge hinders archaeological and paleontological research.

Circannual changes in major chemical composition of bulk dromedary camel milk as determined by FT-MIR spectroscopy, and factors of variation.

Food Chemistry, 2019
We monitored the major chemical composition of bulk dromedary camel milk by FT-MIR spectroscopy over a 5-year period. The results highly correlated with those determined with reference methods (r > 0.985, p

Streptococcal peritonitis in a young dromedary camel

Australian Veterinary Journal, 1998
A male dromedary camel was presented for a primaryStreptococcal zooepidemicusseptic peritonitis. An underlying gross lesion was not identified during abdominal exploratory surgery. The camel responded to peritoneal lavage, peritoneal drainage and systemic antibiotic therapy. Thrombophlebitis of the left jugular vein was diagnosed 14 days after surgery.

Uterine prolapse in 2 dromedary camels.

The Canadian veterinary journal = La revue veterinaire canadienne, 2001
Two cases of uterine prolapse in dromedary camels in a herd with concomitant cases of white muscle disease are described. Serum selenium and glutathione peroxidase in whole blood were investigated in both patients and showed statistical difference compared with a control group.

Dromedary Camel Optimization Algorithm

This paper proposes an optimization algorithm inspired by the behavioral characteristics of dromedary camels—the Dromedary Camel Optimization (DCO). This algorithm mimics the dromedary's behavior in finding water and pasture in the desert, leveraging biological mechanisms such as hump energy storage, water source memory, group collaboration, and ...

Monensin poisoning in dromedary camels.

DTW. Deutsche tierarztliche Wochenschrift, 1993
Four female fistulated camels (Camelus dromedarius), 4-5 years of age, were each given two grams of 10% monensin intraruminally daily for six days to study the effect of monensin on the rumen fermentation pattern. Signs of toxicity appeared on the sixth day, and included depression, anorexia, muscular weakness, inability to stand, salivation and ...
