Rheology of Non-Dilute Emulsions: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesColloids and Interfaces
Non-dilute emulsions are emulsions where the concentration of the droplets is high enough for the neighbouring droplets to interact with each other hydrodynamically but is still smaller than the packed bed concentration where the droplets are packed and ...

Buckling in armored droplets

open access: yesNanoscale, 2017
The buckling mechanism in droplets stabilized by solid particles (armored droplets) is tackled at a mesoscopic level using dissipative particle dynamics simulations.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Investigation of Dispersion, Breakup, and Combustion Processes of Liquid Fuel Droplets under High Turbulence

open access: yesҚарағанды университетінің хабаршысы. Физика сериясы
In the present study, the processes of breakup, dispersion, and evaporation of gasoline droplets in a model combustion chamber under high turbulence reacting flow were investigated using modern computational modeling methods.

Evolution in Microfluidic Droplet

open access: yesChemistry & Biology, 2012
High-throughput screening (HTS) of enzymatic activity is important for directed evolution-based enzyme engineering. However, substrate and product diffusion can severely compromise these HTS assays. In this issue of Chemistry & Biology, Kintses and coworkers describe a microfluidic platform for the directed evolution of enzymes in droplets that allows ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Comprehensive Rheology of Dilute Emulsions

open access: yesColloids and Interfaces
The rheology of dilute emulsions is reviewed comprehensively. The fundamental equations governing the flow fields inside and outside the droplets are discussed, along with the boundary conditions.

A Microfluidic Chip for Liquid Metal Droplet Generation and Sorting

open access: yesMicromachines, 2017
A liquid metal based microfluidic system was proposed and demonstrated for the generation and sorting of liquid metal droplets. This micro system utilized silicon oil as the continuous phase and Ga66In20.5Sn13.5 (66.0 wt % Ga, 20.5 wt % In, 13.5 wt % Sn,
