Integrative miRNOMe profiling reveals the miR‐195‐5p–CHEK1 axis and its impact on luminal breast cancer outcomes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In luminal (ER+) breast carcinoma (BC), miRNA profiling identified miR‐195‐5p as a key regulator of proliferation that targets CHEK1, CDC25A, and CCNE1. High CHEK1 expression correlates with worse relapse‐free survival after chemotherapy, especially in patients with luminal A subtype.

Strategies for Abatement of Contamination of Tableted Live Plague Vaccine at Different Stages of Manufacturing

open access: yesПроблемы особо опасных инфекций, 2016
Nowadays, problem of tableted drug form contamination with extraneous micro-flora is in the spotlight of scientists, as the specific share of these medical preparations in the world market amounts to more than 60 % and has a tendency to increase.

Impurities in Drug Vials Intended for Intravitreal Medication

open access: yesCase Reports in Ophthalmological Medicine, 2020
Sterility is an important prerequisite for minimizing the risk of severe vision loss due to endophthalmitis after intravitreal injections. We describe three cases series of incidents where an unclear contamination of the drug solution or syringe caused ...

Contamination of the Norepinephrine Pro‐Drug Droxidopa by Dihydroxyphenylacetaldehyde

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2010
BackgroundDroxidopa (3,4‐threo‐L‐dihydroxyphenylserine, L‐DOPS) is a norepinephrine (NE) pro‐drug under development to treat orthostatic hypotension. 3,4‐Dihydroxyphenylacetaldehyde (DOPAL) is a toxic catecholaldehyde.MethodsThirteen subjects took 400 mg Droxidopa orally, with blood sampled at baseline and 1, 2, 3, 6, 24, and 48 hours after drug ...

Targeting carbonic anhydrase IX/XII prevents the anti‐ferroptotic effect of stromal lactic acid in prostate carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In prostate carcinoma, lactic acid, secreted by highly glycolytic cancer‐associated fibroblasts, is imported into tumor cells through the MCT1 transporter and prevents RSL3 and erastin‐induced ferroptosis (A). Targeting of carbonic anhydrase IX/XII, the main extracellular pH regulators, in tumor and stromal cells reduces microenvironmental acidosis and

Dried blood spots in toxicology : from the cradle to the grave? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
About a century after its first described application by Ivar Bang, the potential of sampling via dried blood spots (DBS) as an alternative for classical venous blood sampling is increasingly recognized.

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

The New Food Safety [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A safe food supply is essential for a healthy society. Our food system is replete with different types of risk, yet food safety is often narrowly understood as encompassing only foodborne illness and other risks related directly to food ingestion.
