Optimal loading of hydrogel-based drug-delivery systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Drug-loaded hydrogels provide a means to deliver pharmaceutical agents to specific sites within the body at a controlled rate. The aim of this paper is to understand how controlled drug release can be achieved by tuning the initial distribution of drug molecules in a hydrogel. A mathematical model is presented for a spherical drug-loaded hydrogel.

A general model of coupled drug release and tissue absorption for drug delivery devices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper we present a general model of drug release from a drug delivery device and the subsequent transport in biological tissue. The model incorporates drug diffusion, dissolution and solubility in the polymer coating, coupled with diffusion ...

Physicochemical properties and micro-interaction between micro-nanoparticles and anterior corneal multilayer biological interface film for improving drug delivery efficacy: the transformation of tear film turnover mode

open access: yesDrug Delivery, 2023
Recently, various novel drug delivery systems have been developed to overcome ocular barriers in order to improve drug efficacy. We have previously reported that montmorillonite (MT) microspheres (MPs) and solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) loaded with the

MMP-2-triggered, mitochondria-targeted PROTAC-PDT therapy of breast cancer and brain metastases inhibition

open access: yesNature Communications
Proteolytic targeting chimera (PROTAC) technology is a protein-blocking technique and induces antitumor effects, with potential advantages. However, its effect is limited by insufficient distribution and accumulation in tumors.

First-Principles Calculations on Monolayer WX2 (X = S, Se) as an Effective Drug Delivery Carrier for Anti- Tuberculosis Drugs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global health concern, necessitating the exploration of novel drug delivery systems to combat the challenges posed by conventional approaches. We investigated the potential of monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) as an innovative platform for efficient and targeted delivery of antituberculosis drugs ...

Multifunctional targeting micelle nanocarriers with both imaging and therapeutic potential for bladder cancer. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BackgroundWe previously developed a bladder cancer-specific ligand (PLZ4) that can specifically bind to both human and dog bladder cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. We have also developed a micelle nanocarrier drug-delivery system.

Controlled drug delivery vehicles for cancer treatment and their performance

open access: yesSignal Transduction and Targeted Therapy, 2018
Although conventional chemotherapy has been successful to some extent, the main drawbacks of chemotherapy are its poor bioavailability, high-dose requirements, adverse side effects, low therapeutic indices, development of multiple drug resistance, and ...

Stimuli-responsive nanocarriers for drug delivery, tumor imaging, therapy and theranostics

open access: yesTheranostics, 2020
In recent years, much progress has been motivated in stimuli-responsive nanocarriers, which could response to the intrinsic physicochemical and pathological factors in diseased regions to increase the specificity of drug delivery.
