Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

A stability-driven protocol for drug response interpretable prediction (staDRIP) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Modern cancer -omics and pharmacological data hold great promise in precision cancer medicine for developing individualized patient treatments. However, high heterogeneity and noise in such data pose challenges for predicting the response of cancer cell lines to therapeutic drugs accurately.

Robust Control of Nanoscale Drug Delivery System in Atherosclerosis: A Mathematical Approach [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
This paper proposes a mathematical approach for robust control of a nanoscale drug delivery system in treatment of atherosclerosis. First, a new nonlinear lumped model is introduced for mass transport in the arterial wall, and its accuracy is evaluated in comparison with the original distributed-parameter model.

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six

Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...

Dihydropyridines Allosterically Modulate Hsp90 Providing a Novel Mechanism for Heat Shock Protein Co-induction and Neuroprotection

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences, 2018
Chaperones play a pivotal role in protein homeostasis, but with age their ability to clear aggregated and damaged protein from cells declines. Tau pathology is a driver of a variety of neurodegenerative disease and in Alzheimer's disease (AD) it appears ...

Time Optimal Control Studies on COVID-19 Incorporating Adverse Events of the Antiviral Drugs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
In this study, we first develop SIV model by incorporating the intercellular time delay and analyze the stability of the equilibrium points. The model dynamics admits disease-free equilibrium and the infected equilibrium with their stability, based on the value of basic reproduction number $R_0$.
