Anti-tumor activity of selinexor in combination with antineoplastic agents in chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Despite recent relevant therapeutic progresses, chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) remains an incurable disease. Selinexor, an oral inhibitor of the nuclear export protein XPO1, is active as single agent in different hematologic malignancies, including ...

The role of the Bmi1-GSK3β pathway in glioblastoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Malignant gliomas remain one of the deadliest of all cancers despite maximal therapy. They present unique challenges to therapy with a median survival of 12 months.

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

A chemical–genetic interaction map of small molecules using high‐throughput imaging in cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Systems Biology, 2015
Small molecules often affect multiple targets, elicit off‐target effects, and induce genotype‐specific responses. Chemical genetics, the mapping of the genotype dependence of a small molecule's effects across a broad spectrum of phenotypes can identify ...

Development of gradient diffusion strips to identify the potentiating effect of antimicrobial compounds against multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae strains [PDF]

open access: yesКлиническая микробиология и антимикробная химиотерапия
Objective. The aim of the study was to develop gradient diffusion strips with substances capable of potentiating the action of antibiotics for the treatment of infections caused by multidrug-resistant strains of K. pneumoniae.

Midazolam inhibits hippocampal long-term potentiation and learning through dual central and peripheral benzodiazepine receptor activation and neurosteroidogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Benzodiazepines (BDZs) enhance GABA(A) receptor inhibition by direct actions on central BDZ receptors (CBRs). Although some BDZs also bind mitochondrial receptors [translocator protein (18 kDa) (TSPO)] and promote the synthesis of GABA-enhancing ...

Interplay of integrins and selectins in metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here we review the role of integrins and their interplay with selectins in metastasis. The efficacy of integrin‐targeted therapies may be reduced in tumors where metastasis relies heavily on selectins. In certain tumors, integrins and selectins exhibit a synergistic interaction during intraperitoneal dissemination.

New Trends for Antimalarial Drugs: Synergism between Antineoplastics and Antimalarials on Breast Cancer Cells

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2020
Chemotherapy plays a key role in breast cancer therapy, but drug resistance and unwanted side effects make the treatment less effective. We propose a new combination model that combines antineoplastic drugs and antimalarials for breast cancer therapy ...
