Effect of 5-Fluorouracil Administered at Low Doses on Cytotoxic Properties of Methotrexate in the in vivo Model of Mice L1210 Leukemia; According to the Schedule of Treatment

open access: yesPteridines, 1994
The study compared antineoplastic effects of combined methotrexate and 5-fluorouracil therapy on LI210 lymphoid leukemia in mice according to the schedule of treatment. Methotrexate was administered at doses of: LOw.. 0.5 LOw.

Drug Selection via Joint Push and Learning to Rank [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics ( Volume: 17, Issue: 1, 01 Jan.-Feb. 2020), 2018
Selecting the right drugs for the right patients is a primary goal of precision medicine. In this manuscript, we consider the problem of cancer drug selection in a learning-to-rank framework. We have formulated the cancer drug selection problem as to accurately predicting 1). the ranking positions of sensitive drugs and 2).

KMT2A degradation is observed in decitabine‐responsive acute lymphoblastic leukemia cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that decitabine (DEC) not only degrades the DNA methyltransferase DNMT1 but also the leukemic driver lysine methyltransferase KMT2A likely due to structural similarity of the DNA‐binding CXXC domains. DEC influences KMT2A downstream processes and synergizes with menin inhibitor revumenib (REV) to decrease leukemic cell proliferation, and

Hyperbolic Molecular Representation Learning for Drug Repositioning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Learning accurate drug representations is essential for task such as computational drug repositioning. A drug hierarchy is a valuable source that encodes knowledge of relations among drugs in a tree-like structure where drugs that act on the same organs, treat the same disease, or bind to the same biological target are grouped together.

Polyfunctional CD8+CD226+RUNX2hi effector T cells are diminished in advanced stages of chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CD226+CD8+ T cells express elevated levels of RUNX2, exhibit higher proliferation capacity, cytokines and cytolytic molecules expression, and migratory capacity. In contrast, CD226−CD8+ T cells display an exhausted phenotype associated with the increased expression of co‐inhibitory receptors and impaired effector functions.

Modeling Suggests Combined-Drug Treatments for Disorders Impairing Synaptic Plasticity via Shared Signaling Pathways [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Genetic disorders such as Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome (RTS) and Coffin-Lowry syndrome (CLS) cause lifelong cognitive disability, including deficits in learning and memory. Can pharmacological therapies be suggested to improve learning and memory in these disorders?

AMFPMC -- An improved method of detecting multiple types of drug-drug interactions using only known drug-drug interactions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Adverse drug interactions are largely preventable causes of medical accidents, which frequently result in physician and emergency room encounters. The detection of drug interactions in a lab, prior to a drug's use in medical practice, is essential, however it is costly and time-consuming.

Inhibition of acyl‐CoA synthetase long‐chain isozymes decreases multiple myeloma cell proliferation and causes mitochondrial dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Triacsin C inhibition of the acyl‐CoA synthetase long chain (ACSL) family decreases multiple myeloma cell survival, proliferation, mitochondrial respiration, and membrane potential. Made with Biorender.com. Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable cancer of plasma cells with a 5‐year survival rate of 59%.

The Nonequilibrium Mechanism of Noise Enhancer synergizing with Activator in HIV Latency Reactivation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Noise-modulating chemicals can synergize with transcriptional activators in reactivating latent HIV to eliminate latent HIV reservoirs. To understand the underlying biomolecular mechanism, we investigate a previous two-gene-state model and identify two necessary conditions for the synergy: an assumption of inhibition effect of transcription activators ...
