FRICTION COEFICIENT OF SEMI-SPHERICAL RUBBER PROTRUSIONS SLIDING AGAINST RUBBER [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Egyptian Society of Tribology, 2013
It is necessary to reduce slip and fall in bathrooms, workshops, kid gardens, halls and walking yards. The present work aims to test the frictional behavior of rubber semi-spherical balls of different diameter and hardness to have specific information ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

On a slender dry patch in a liquid film draining under gravity down an inclined plane

open access: yes, 2001
In this paper two similarity solutions describing a steady, slender, symmetric dry patch in an infinitely wide liquid film draining under gravity down an inclined plane are obtained.

Influence of hydrogel use on soybean cultivation hydrical stress

open access: yesBioscience Journal, 2018
Among the agricultural production factors, the water deficit is one of the main reasons that limits soy production in Brazil. In order to mitigate losses due to water stress in the plants, hydrogels appear as soil water conditioners.

FRICTION COEFFICIENT OF RUBBER SLIDING AGAINST DUSTY INDOOR FLOORING [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Egyptian Society of Tribology, 2010
It is well known that in Middle East airborne contaminant levels are particularly high. During severe storm conditions dust concentrations of the order of 100 to 500 times higher may be encountered.

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Comparisons of Meso-Scale Air Pollution Dispersion Modelling of S02, N02 and 03 Using Regional-Scale Monitoring Results

open access: yesClean Air Journal, 2010
Results of a regional-scale monitoring campaign were compared with two meso-scale to sub-continental modelling studies, for S02 and N02 and 03 respectively (Fourie, 2006, Zunckel et al., 2006, van Tienhoven et al., 2006, Van Tienhoven and Zunckel, 2004).
