Chemical composition, in vitro ruminal dry matter degradability and dry matter intake of some selected browse plants

open access: yesCogent Food & Agriculture, 2019
Many browse plants are undervalued due to insufficient knowledge about their potential feeding value. The study was conducted to evaluate the chemical composition, in vitro ruminal dry matter degradability (DRD) and dry matter intake of Melia azedarach ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Structure of clay topsoil affected by tillage intensity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
On the clay loam soil in 0-0,05 m layer, the average dry bulk density of ploughed soil was greater than that of reduced tilled soils. This was probably due to the higher organic matter content of reduced tilled plots. On the clay soil, the differences in

Understanding bio‐based polymers: A study of origins, properties, biodegradation and their impact on health and the environment

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review provides an overview of bio‐based polymer sources, their unique functional properties and their environmental impact, and addresses their role as sustainable alternatives. It discusses end‐of‐life options, including composting and anaerobic digestion for renewable energy.

Prediction of cereal feed value by near infrared spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Feed value in form of FEsv (Feed unit / kg dry matter, for piglets) and FEso (Feed unit / kg dry matter, for sows), EDOM (Enzyme Degradable Organic Matter) and EDOMi (Enzyme Degradable Organic Matter, Ileum) is used in the feed evaluation system for pigs.

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Dry Matter and Minerals in Loblolly Pine Plantation on Four Arkansas Soils [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Average contents of N, P, K, Ca, and Na and total above ground dry matter were determined in 19-year-old unthinned loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) plantations in southeastern Arkansas.

Galaxy formation from dry and hydro simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The effects of dry and wet merging on the Scaling Laws (SLs) of elliptical galaxies (Es) are discussed. It is found that the galaxy SLs, possibly established at high redshift by the fast collapse of gas-rich and clumpy stellar distributions in ...
