DEVELOPMENT OF PREDICTIVE MODELS FOR QUALITY CONTROL OF CARROTS DURING DRYING [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This thesis research project is aimed at setting up prediction models based on NIR spectroscopy, for quality control of organic carrot discs (Daucus carota L., var. Romance) during hot-air drying process (horizontal flow) up to 8 h.

Drying of complex suspensions

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate the 3D structure and drying dynamics of complex mixtures of emulsion droplets and colloidal particles, using confocal microscopy. Air invades and rapidly collapses large emulsion droplets, forcing their contents into the surrounding porous

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Production of MgAl/layered double hydroxide microspheres and investigation of the volumetric heat transfer coefficient in spray drying

open access: yesHeliyon
Layered Double Hydroxides (LDH) are synthetic materials nanostructured in two dimensions that present positively charged layers with interspersed anions for charge and structure balancing. Being recognized as a promising material for various applications,

High-intensity drying processes-impulse drying [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Experiments have been conducted on a sheet-fed pilot-scale shoe press to compare impulse drying and double-felted pressing. Both an IPST ceramic coated and Beloit Type A press roll have been evaluated for linerboard sheet structures having a wide range of z-direction permeability.

Influence of different drying parameters on the composition of volatile compounds of thyme and rosemary cultivated in Sardinia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The shelf life of spices is traditionally extended by drying. Fresh herbs, due to their high water content, undergo microorganism growth and adverse biochemical reactions. On the other hand drying may result in a lot of physical and chemical alterations.

Pharmaceutical Particle Engineering via Spray Drying

open access: yesPharmaceutical Research, 2007
This review covers recent developments in the area of particle engineering via spray drying. The last decade has seen a shift from empirical formulation efforts to an engineering approach based on a better understanding of particle formation in the spray

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Effect of moisture migration on texture and viscoelasticity of Chinese yam during multi-phase microwave drying (MMD) - focusing on the evaporation-dehydration stage

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X
This study aimed to assess the correlation between moisture migration and texture, as well as viscoelasticity of Chinese yam during the evaporation stage of multiphase microwave drying (MMD).

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.
