The Effect of Infrared Drying Rates on the Optical Properties of Starch-Clay Coatings [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Experiments were conducted to determine the effects of varying rates of infrared drying on a starch-clay coated sheet, in-so-far as optical properties are concerned.

The response of perennial and temporary headwater stream invertebrate communities to hydrological extremes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The headwaters of karst rivers experience considerable hydrological variability, including spates and streambed drying. Extreme summer flooding on the River Lathkill (Derbyshire, UK) provided the opportunity to examine the invertebrate community response

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Transport coefficients for low and high-rate mass transfer along a biological horizontal cylinder Coeficientes de transporte para baixas e altas taxas de transferência de massa ao longo de um cilindro biológico horizontal

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Engenharia Agrícola e Ambiental, 2006
Knowledge of heat and mass transfer coefficients is essential for drying simulation studies or design of food and grain thermal processes, including drying. This work presents the full development of a segregated finite element method to solve convection-

Dry Eye Diagnosis

open access: yesInvestigative Opthalmology & Visual Science, 2008
To determine the most effective objective tests, applied singly or in combination in the diagnosis of dry eye disease. Two groups of subjects--41 with dry eye and 32 with no ocular surface disease--had symptoms, tear film quality, evaporation, tear turnover rate (TTR), volume and osmolarity, and meibomian gland dropout score assessed. The subjects with ...

DEVELOPMENT OF A NOVEL ENERGY EFFICIENT ADSORPTION DRYER WITH ZEOLITE FOR HEAT SENSITIVE PRODUCTS

open access: yes, 2010
Drying is a basic operation in wood, food, pharmaceutical and chemical industry. The operation is important to enhance the preservation properties of agriculture crops and pharmaceutical products, to reduce the costs for transportation, to increase ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Effect of Drying Methods and Pre Treatments on Nutritional Value and Sensory Quality of Fish (Oreochromis niloticus, Pylodictis olivaris and Cyprinus carpio) Species Commonly Used in Gambella Region

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Agriculture: Food Science and Technology, 2016
This study was conducted to assess the effect of drying methods and pre-treatments on nutritional content and sensory quality of dried fish. The experiment was conducted in factorial arrangement of 2×3×2 with two drying methods (sun and oven drying ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

High-intensity drying processes-impulse drying [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Experiments have been conducted on a sheet-fed pilot-scale shoe press to compare impulse drying and double-felted pressing. Both an IPST ceramic coated and Beloit Type A press roll have been evaluated for linerboard sheet structures having a wide range of z-direction permeability.
