The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Capillarity-Driven Flows at the Continuum Limit

open access: yes, 2015
We experimentally investigate the dynamics of capillary-driven flows at the nanoscale, using an original platform that combines nanoscale pores and microfluidic features.

The impact of freeze-drying infant fecal samples on measures of their bacterial community profiles and milk-derived oligosaccharide content. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Infant fecal samples are commonly studied to investigate the impacts of breastfeeding on the development of the microbiota and subsequent health effects.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Effects of Different Drying Methods on the Volatile Substances of Dictyophora rubrovolvata Based on HS-SPME-GC-MS and HS-GC-IMS

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
To investigate the impact of different drying methods on the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) of Dictyophora rubrovolvata, HS-SPME-GC-MS and HS-GC-IMS technologies were employed to analyze the aroma changes of the mushroom dried by four methods, which ...

Drying of Heat Sensitive Materials of High Moisture Content in Mechanically Spouted Bed of Inert Particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In drying operation the material characteristics such as heat sensitivity, moisture content and particle size are of great importance, which should be taken into account in selection of proper design and conditions for the process.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Effects of Five Different Drying Methods on Drying Characteristic and Quality of Hippophae rhamnoides

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji, 2022
Fresh Hippophae rhamnoides L. fruits from Altay were used as material, the treatments with shading drying (NSD), natural drying (ND), hot air drying (HAD), heat pump drying (HPD) and vacuum freeze-drying (VFD) were compared for their application to the ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
