Proposing Process and Experiment of Drying Roses by Freeze-Drying Method

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2021
Roses, both fresh and dried, often appear during festive occasions. However, fresh roses do not last long, and dried flowers are marinated with environmentally unfriendly chemicals. This paper proposes the procedure and experiment of drying roses by the freeze-drying method.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Evaluation of the Free Volume Theory to Predict Moisture Transport and Quality Changes During Broccoli Drying

open access: yes, 2010
Moisture diffusion in porous broccoli florets and stalks is modeled using the free volume and Maxwell-Eucken theories. These theories are based on the mobility of water and concern the variation of the effective diffusion coefficient for a wide range of ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

ALTERNATING DIRECTION IMPLICIT METHOD FOR SOLVING EQUATIONS OF 2-D HETEROGENEOUS MODEL OF DEEP-BED GRAIN DRYING [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
In this paper, numerical studies of two-dimensional mathematical model are presented for deep-bed grain drying based on heat and mass transfer. The two-dimensional dynamic equations are solved numerically by finite difference method with alternating ...

Comprehensive Characterization of Aroma Profile of “Glutinous Rice” Flavor in Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb. Using HS–SPME–GC–O–MS and HS-GC-IMS Technology Coupled with OAV

open access: yesFoods
Pandan leaves have a prominent glutinous-rice aroma; however, few studies have explored their volatile aroma compound composition. Herein, the differences in the volatile aroma components of fresh and dried pandan leaves were investigated for the first ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Comparison on Modelling of Drying Kinetics of Granular Polymers PA6 by Diffusion Models and Normalization Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this work, the drying behaviour of single granular PA6, hanging in the flow direction of hot air in a drying chamber, was investigated. In the experiments, the air was passed through the chamber at contant very low velocity in the drying chamber of ...

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Effects of Different Drying Methods on the Volatile Substances of Dictyophora rubrovolvata Based on HS-SPME-GC-MS and HS-GC-IMS

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
To investigate the impact of different drying methods on the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) of Dictyophora rubrovolvata, HS-SPME-GC-MS and HS-GC-IMS technologies were employed to analyze the aroma changes of the mushroom dried by four methods, which ...
