Drying Behaviour of 50 mm Thick Turkey Oak Lumber

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Turkey oak lumber is difficult to dry, being prone to cracks even at low temperatures. The main objective of the research was to test different drying conditions in order to establish whether air-drying or kiln-drying from a green state was more suitable;

Adaptive Speckle Imaging Interferometry: a new technique for the analysis of microstructure dynamics, drying processes and coating formation

open access: yes, 2007
We describe an extension of multi-speckle diffusing wave spectroscopy adapted to follow the non-stationary microscopic dynamics in drying films and coatings in a very reactive way and with a high dynamic range.

Likelihood of survival of coronavirus in a respiratory droplet deposited on a solid surface

open access: yes, 2020
We predict and analyze the drying time of respiratory droplets from a COVID-19 infected subject, which is a crucial time to infect another subject. The drying of the droplet is predicted by diffusion-limited evaporation model for a sessile droplet placed

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

Drying Characteristics of Jelly Ear Mushroom (Auricularia auricula) Using Microwave Oven

open access: yesJurnal Teknik Pertanian Lampung, 2023
Jelly ear mushroom (Auricularia auricula) is easily damaged due to high water content of around 85-95%. Therefore, it is necessary to dry it to extend the its shelf life.

PENGARUH LAMA WAKTU PERENDAMAN DAN SUHU KONDISI OPERASI PADA GABAH DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN ROTARY DRYER FIREBRICK (The Effect of Immersion Time and Temperature condition in operation on the Rate Drying of Unhulled Rice on Rotary Dryer Firebrick ) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Drying is a process-water discharge of materials using thermal energy so that the level of the water content of the material menurun.Proses drying is usually accompanied by the evaporation of water contained in the material.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Drying kinetics and model fitting of Lechang taro during hot-air drying process

open access: yesLiang you shipin ke-ji, 2020
The drying and drying rate curves of Lechang taro were studied under different hot air temperatures (50, 60, 70, 80, 90 ℃), different hot air rate (1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 m/s) and different slice thickness (2, 3, 4, 5 mm).

THE DRYING RATE OF FABRICS

open access: yesSen'i Gakkaishi, 1985
In order to understand the drying process of fabrics, drying experiment in household manner was conducted at five atomospheric conditions. (10 and 20°C at 65% RH, and 30°C at 40, 65 and 90% RH)Other experiments on 18 samples of different fabrics were conducted in a condition of 30°C at 40% RH.The following conclusions were obtained.1.
